Autosave feature on the forum response

Autosave feature on the forum response

So, while writing a 300 word+ response on this thread, for some reason my google chrome decided to go to my documents.

I pushed back to the forum, and... it's all gone... the half century of poetry will forever be lost in the depths of the internet's bedchamber

It may sound melodramatic but this is the third time I've lost a long winded response in the witcher forum because I pushed a combination of keys that made me go somewhere else

So, I'm just recommending some sort of autosave function on the forum response system so that people who made the same mistakes I did won't have to lose their writing and rage.

I have seen the function on a few forums and just thought we should have it.

Would you kindly respond to this?

I know the feeling of losing a long post and I’ve been saved from this several times on boards that do have that function. So yeah, I think it’d be a good idea to have it.

True . . . it can be painful.
but most of posts are about 3 or 4 lines and having an autosave feature for all replies isn't necessary.
so using notepad for long posts would be good enough.

Autosave could even cause small troubles sometime.

I'm definitely for the inclusion of an autosave function for our posts. Where's the petition so I can sign it!

Then again...

That is a good alternative that very easily solves the problem at hand. Write your post in "notepad", copy and paste it to your reply box and voila. It's actually a really straightforward and simple solution to our little conundrum here, yet I doubt many even thought of it. Me included!

So now I don't know. It'd be nice to have a autosave feature just in case, regardless if you would use a software to write your post in first. I've lost some of my posts as well and it almost made me give up on life and become a shoe salesman!

Lesson #1: Don't use google chrome (seriously, just don't)

Lesson #2: "Witcher" and "romance" can cause all kinds of havoc. You hear that CDPR??

Why? I've been using Google Chrome for at least 4 years now. Never had any trouble with it whatsoever. It's the best browser ever made so far in my opinion. Even Mozilla Firefox (which is a very good browser also, and would be a very good 2nd choice) cannot top Google Chrome.

Please, if you have the time, explain to me how my privacy is supposedly compromised by Google Chrome, and how that isn't the case with other web browsers.

Let's keep "google is evil" discussion away from this thread #TORproject .__.

The feature could be turned on & off by each user through a control panel

Yes, but we should aim for better user experience and less micromanagement *wink*

Yeah, that can be a problem sometimes, I've personally made it a habit to ctrl+a ctrl+c posts before posting, on all forums. The current forum software has a lot of flaws, guess I'll forward this one to Marcin to keep in mind for any future changes.

Then I shan't say more on the matter, except that for those who are indeed worried about their privacy and what information Google pick up, archive and (mis)use about you, then don't use Chrome.

When I remember it, I either copy my text or move it to notepad too - especially when writing long posts. Losing a half hours+ of work is way, way too annoying, and makes me want to throw things out the window.
