Avid Collector quest bug

According to the quest log, I need to sell the van Rogh painting to Marcus Hodgson in Novigrad, but he never appears in his shop. I've checked back on different days, different times of the day, and used mediate, but he simply does not appear. Any solutions out there to have him show up, or do we have to wait for another patch for this to be fixed?

That's strange. Whenever I visited his bookstore at Hierarch Square, he was always there. He was already there in the main game. I had played Gwent against him and I had no problems to finish the "Avid Collector" quest. Did you visit him in already your main game?

I had problems with him not spawning back in the 1.1 days, and even when he was there I couldn't interact with him -- he had the Talk prompt, but he behaved like a random NPC and just cycled through a few stock responses rather than actually engaging in dialogue. In may last playthrough he seemed to be fixed, although there's still a slight oddity in that whenever you talk to him and end the conversation you're left standing on the shop counter rather than the floor.

He was there during my core game playthrough, but it has been quite sometime leading up to Avid Collector since I last visited him, so can't say when he vanished. I've tried a few things, including clearing cache, but to no result.
