Axii or Quen or Aard (Second Tier)

Got 3 points I want to spend on either Axii or Quen or Aard on Second Tier (Gives Special Ability)
Mind Control one enemy, Area Effect Aard or Quen (Shield)

PS: Quen (Shield) goes down after 2 hit from targets 5 level below me, it's not very strong on Death Match and I feel I could do better with dodge and slow area effect spell I have.

So it's maybe bit Axii or Aard, one mind control versus area effect push?
What do you find most useful?

I had Quen tier 2 for a while and found it extremely underwhelming.
Have you considered Yrden? It's my personal favorite, does minimal damage base is like a 100 or 120 a hit I think, plus 1 damage per 1% of your sign intensity, but staggers opponents, lasts ages, knocks projectiles and airborne monsters out of the sky, it's a nice all rounder.
I haven't tried Aard tier 2.
Mind control is always nice so maybe Axii.

Honestly I think Quen is OP as all hell. I wouldn't want it changed, not saying it's a bad thing but... damn do the other Signs look kinda lame next to it.

Takes a hit with no damage and stuns enemies when it breaks, possible knocks over for easy 1 hit kills > Takes multiple hits by controlling the shield yourself and releasing the stun shockwave yourself AND it heals you for a % of damage blocked > Turns Quen into a fully loaded tank with high intensity > Damage absorbed by Quen is reflected by at attacker.

In short, I'm upgrading this all the way through first.

Aard has the most useful second tier.

I maybe in the minority here but I like igni 2nd tier(fire stream) the most cos it's fun to use :D However, need to be careful not to get jumped while using it as the consequence is pretty painful.

On topic, I would say Puppet(Axii 2nd tier) is very good as it could turn the tide of the battle to your favor against multiple enemies.

For Death March, I have a sign build that's working wonders for me. My plan is to max Quen and Axii, so that I can get regeneration from the Quen shield and turn mobs against each other with Axii. The top tier of Axii allows for two enemies to be effected at the same time and attack your other targets. It's amazing for mob control. If you plan to go this route, use medium armor for the extra stamina regeneration boost that they offer, so that you can cast a ton of signs. I typically always have a Quen shield active just as an extra peace mind.

Isn't light armor the best choice for fast stamina regeneration? I'm pretty sure medium armor slows down your stamina generation, but increases your sign intensity, which could be useful for sign builds but I personally went with light armor.

I'm pretty sure that light armor focuses on critical hit percentage and fast attacks, medium armor focuses on stamina regeneration and sign intensity, and heavy armor focuses on defense and strong attacks.

I say this because the general skill tree seems to hint towards it. Here's the quotes from the game:

Cat School Techniques
Each piece of light armor increases critical hit damage by 25% and fast attack damage by 5%

Griffin School Techniques
Each piece of medium increases your sign intensity by 5% and Endurance regeneration by 5%

Bear School Techniques
Each piece of heavy armor increases your strong attack damage by 5% and maximum health by 5%

Mind Control doesn't last very long on one target and less on two targets.

Nice thing about Quen.. just the Shield (Tier 2) is that after a fight, one enemy left.. you have half health left, and no food.. don't want to meditate and use potions.. you use Quen to heal you up by taking damage and then kill the foe.

That's just skills... if you look at what each PIECE OF ARMOR actually does, light armor increases stamina regeneration, not medium.

^ This.

Light armor gives you faster stamina regeneration.
Medium armor gives you default stamina regeneration.
Heavy armor gives you slower stamina regeneration.

You can indeed increase your stamina regeneration in medium armor by spending points in the Griffin School Techniques tree to make it regenerate equally fast as light armor, but by default light armor has the fastest stamina regeneration.

But the skills do give some indication of what each armor type is most likely specialized in. Sorry for not specifying, but I was actually looking at the witcher school gear when I was typing that response as well. The mastercrafted cat school gear seems to specialize in attack power and critical hit chance while the mastercrafted griffin school gear seems to specialize in sign intensity. Couple griffin armor with the Griffin School Techniques skill, and you have stronger signs with pretty fast regeneration.
