Bachelor's thesis questionnaire about Cyberpunk 2077

+
Hi everyone! 👋

I'm currently writing my bachelor's thesis on moral values and decision-making in digital games, with a specific focus on Cyberpunk 2077. As part of my research, I’m conducting a short anonymous questionnaire about how players make moral choices in the game and how these decisions relate to their real-life values.

If you've played Cyberpunk 2077, I’d really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill it out. Your responses will help me better understand the role of morality in gameplay and narrative.

Hello, one precision about the questions:
9. Did you ever act differently in the game than you would in real life, simply because it was a fictional setting?
I think a "Not sure" will be useful here. I'm not a cyberboosted merc with lifetime in weeks at best if this merc didn't take any measure necessary to survive. It seems very difficult to me to answer sincerely and with certainty to this question. By default, I selected No because I don't think I will act like I'm doing now.

Lolz what a peculiar add, to have the limelight on Finn.

Q8. Did you choose to punch ripperdoc Fingers?

A couple thoughts on the survey:

1. I think a few questions your going to have skewed to the middle because they present a seemingly binary choice with then a mix option.

- I do X
- I do Y
- Some of both

I think your survey results will skew to the middle with this set up. A likely more informative way to phrase it would be 4 options like:

- Almost always X
- Somewhat more often X than Y
- Somewhat more often Y than X
- Almost always Y

2. I think the game encourages us to make choices based on what we think the character V would do. So I'm not sure the premise of the questions regarding the players morality in making choices really captures what the game is trying to have the players do.

3. I don't think it's possible to complete the main story of cyberpunk without knowingly doing something morally wrong as V. You have to steal and harm to complete the main quest, which I think most people would agree is morally wrong.
