Best graphics/performance balance

Hey guys, so I've stalked these forums for a while but I've yet to see a thread discussing this very thing - best performance/graphics settings

I believe I've found the perfect sweet spot for me, so I thought I'd share it :

(specs : CPU i7-4790k 4.00GHz , GPU ASUS GTX 970, 16GB RAM)

Graphics settings: all ultra except shadows high, foliage distance high, hairworks off of course,
Postprocessing : AA off (I see no point in it playing on 1440p), sharpening low, HBAO+, everything else down to personal preference
Resolution: 2715x1527 (rendered in 1440p and scaled to my 1980p monitor with Nvidia DSR)

So far with these settings I've been getting average 50fps (OC'd-GPU - non-oc is 40-45 average), with smooth 60 indoors and average 40-55 outdoors, low 40s when raining, but never below 40. The biggest jump in quality in my opinion is 1440p resolution as opposed to 1080p. The game looks freaking amazing for me and runs very well.

Feel free to share your game settings, OC settings, benchmarks.

There was a very good guide from Nvidia at release about what settings impacted performances and eyecandy the most. Google it because it was very useful.

That said, I guess it's strictly a matter of personal preferences, but in your shoes I would *immediately* scale down the resolution to the native one of your monitor and enjoy the better, more stable framerate instead.

Well, the FPS drop is barely noticeable to me, but the difference in quality is HUGE, it's well worth the ~10fps loss imo

@cyberpunkforever That can't be right.... especially not at that resolution and shadows/foliage tuned down so much. I get smooth 60 on 1080p with my settings.

I play with a worse CPU (i5 4670K) and a GTX 770 at higher resolution and higher settings than you and I get better performances.
Something doesn't sound right there.

Yeah I have i5 2500k and a 970, I get much higher than that too in 1080p with everything maxed but shadows. Get a pretty stable 30fps in 3D with all the bells and whistles on including hair works (AA off and shadows medium).

Question, can anyone tell the difference between shadows on low and ultra. Does it maybe require a game restart, because at 1440p setting them to low I get an extra 10fps(from 32-35fps to 42-45fps) and I can't see the difference at all, beyond maybe perhaps that is a very small difference. Am I just going crazy or is the difference really that small/non existent (note: this is only for shadows).

Looks like a nice improvement to me, though I am looking at it on my phone.

Yeah hardly any different I find, first thing for gaming FPS I'd say.

I am using a 1920x1080 monitor and I can tell a very slight difference between the low and ultra settings but, it's so minimal that I always use low just for the higher framerate. I find hardly notice the actual shapes of the shadows as it is while in game.

Do you like this Monitor?

Edit: @Suntory_Times
Turn it down to low. It only eats FPS and you wont see a difference ingame.

Cheers to everyone who responded. It is odd as usually shadows on low (or off) makes a huge difference but hear i'm not sure where the performance is going. Maybe shadows remain in higher quality at a distance, but I can't see it.

If you cant see it turn it down:) If you put it from ultra to low you will get 8-10 FPS.

AMD 280X @ 1080
AMD FX 6300 @4.5 GHz.
8 GB DDR3 1333
1080p display TV
Windows 10 x64
Catalyst Tessellation Override x16
Catalyst Texture Filter Quality set to High, Texture Surface Optimization Off.

Max settings (including max Hairworks)
1080p
No Sharpen
Foliage On High instead of Ultra.

33-40 fps with a constant 35 almost all the time. Fighting a bear up close can tank the framerate to 25 fps.

Great visuals and great performance for my setup IMO.

Specs:
OC 3570k
Evga 970 SC,
8gb ram

Running the game with everything maxed out (including hairworks) except sharpening set to low.

And I get somewhere between 35-60 fps. Which is acceptable to me.
