Beta testing?

I was wondering if you are going to do open to the public beta testing or maybe for those people that were there from the start?

I have had some experience with other games where I have been there from the start and haven't had a chance to test even though every so often the producers of the game would randomly give out keys which I don't think is very fair.

This game has a lot of potential and I really like the look of it and love to test and give feedback when it is in development.

Sounds good, but I'm not sure they would want to do something like that.

Doubt it. They didn't do it for Witcher 1 or 2.

As far as we know it's a singleplayer game. So unless you apply as internal tester or they will ship a demo there is no way we will play it before release.

If CP2077 will have multiplayer or co-op they will show beta or alpha version maybe late next year on some E3 similar event. Then maybe who knows...
It's to early to speculate.

It's said to be a sandbox mmo. If not an mmo it would really be doing an injustice to the P&P and Mr. Pondsmith's vision IMO.

Well all we know is a co op, so maybe that will be a beta testing for us...To early indeed to speculate, lets wait...something we have to build. :D

Unlikely, as didn't happen with the first w witcher games and being a SP game (essentially atleast so far) unlikely.

They would probably do a closed beta, but I don't think this would have an open beta.

why would you need public beta testing for a possibly single player only game

Perhaps if they get serious about Modding.... That's what they might need a beta period for, but its highly likely that if this occurs, it would be restricted or private

I would love to be part of the beta but I doubt we'd see anything this year especially if 2015 is a rough release date. "When it's done" implies that won't be an exact date either.

If it is some sort of game that needs a beta/ stress test/ whatever, I'd be glad to help. I've betatested about 16 games, so I know how to bughunt.

It'd be a shame if the on-line potential of the modern RPG environment wasn't fully realized and brought to fruition via multi-player.

At more than one stage of it's long history even Star Trek was ported to tabletop pnp RPG and now an on-line version satiates the desires of Trekkers everywhere. An on-line version of Cyberpunk 2020 (albeit 2077) would be incredible to say the least.

Beta testing is, ultimately, the best way for the developers to get feedback on such a venture. Sadly if it's to be single-player a lot of potential will be forsaken and any testing will be better done in house until they (the devs) deem the product fit for public release.

Not for another year or so guys. After they finish up TW3 they will start working on CP2077 on full steam.

Even if it's a single player only game, they would still need a beta to test the game on several different computer builds, which is very important for bug fixing and overall performance. You can't just test it on high-end pc in the studio. It's much easier to fix future problems with a beta since most gamers won't change much of their builds in the time between a beta and a release.

Doubt it'd happen. If it did, however, it should be given to the mods—if willing—to test. They've patrolled the Witcher forum (and will have taken care of this forum, as well) to little more than occasional gratitude. Sometimes even less than that. Comparatively speaking, none of us will have contributed more or proven ourselves more trustworthy. Besides, they've already dealt with enough bugs in CDPR's previous games that they'd probably have the intuition to find any that still exist.

I'm completely baffled how this mentality prevails from game to game. Beta testing is a job, not a reward.

Since we're not talking about a multiplayer game though, there are no "spots", since the game isn't played on a server. Thus, Projekt RED could obviously give the moderators the chance to beta test as a "reward", but beta testers should be chosen from people who actually test stuff, and furthermore and more specifically people who actually communicate their findings to the developers in great detail.

It works out to give beta testing spots for random people in an MMO, where you have to stress test the servers, but other than that beta testing is a part of the development of the game and beta testers thus a type of developer, and as far development goes, I'd rather people who do the work be chosen carefully, and not gifted the opportunity because of forum moderation or some such thing.

Not saying the moderators aren't great testers. They may very well be. Just saying beta testing shouldn't be thought of as a reward, like it seems to be.

Right now major focus will be on TW3 as it is seemingly coming out next year and currently closed beta is on for the redkit. That's the best which is gonna happen
