Bethesda teasing new project...

... but it's not Fallout 4, they say. On the one hand that makes me sad, on the other hand i'd greatly prefer an Obsidian-made Fallout sequel. http://www.gamespot.com/news/bethesda-teases-new-project-but-rules-out-fallout-4-6407041
Here's the first teaser "video":

I already constructed an explanation how the LP and the crackling sound fit perfectly in the fallout universe, but then Bethesda destroyed my theory with their official statement. ;)

And a second teaser:

I gotta give it to Bethesda, they sure know how to hype people up. Videos only a couple of seconds long and people are already talking about it. They managed to create a hype buzz around nothing. Well played Bethesda.

I for one, don't really care that much. Bethesda's games have sunk in quality and even though I liked Skyrim, if that's the direction they're gonna keep heading in, I'm not interested in following them.

Still, if whatever they're teasing ends up being good, then great! I might give it a chance :) As for what it actually is, I have no idea. I assume it's some kind of new IP.

People are hyped up by THIS?

No wonder it's easy for the various PR machines to sell (crap) games...

Psychic Stan says: Guaranteed best game ever 10/10, greeted with massive showers of praise on release. One month later, bit shit really.

It's funny that on various gaming sites there are already a lot of comments like "I don't know what it is, but I want it", "Shut up and take my money" etc., even tho all what we saw are 3 "gifs". But after next game like "Aliens: Colonial Marines" you will see a lot of comments like "I can't believe that such bad game sold so well, what is wrong with this industry?".

It's called viral marketing.

I know how it's called. It doesn't explain why half of gaming community is jerking off after they saw 3 gifs. But it explains other thing amazingly well - why publishers focus more on marketing than on development. ;)

Kinda like what's happening with BioShoch: Infinite.

I'm still waiting for the honeymoon to be over until I start criticizing the shit out of it.

One good thing that did come out of it though is that it sparked a debate regarding storytelling in games and whether or not all games should "ctrl+c" "ctrl+v" the shooter formula. Does every game have to have guns and the ability to blow someone's head of? Especially when the theme of said game is redemption, forgiveness, rebirth and being autonomous in the sense that you have a say in your past, present and future and you're not simply a mindless drone that serves as a means to an end.

Well anyway, 'till the moment comes, I can take the time and reflect on the topic :)

What in the underground hipster hell? These aren't even interesting, I guess just hearing 'Bethsda' and 'announcement' is powerful enough to get people to talk.

Actually, I just thought of something. All the short videos say that they belong to Bethesda Softworks right? That means that it doesn't have to be Bethesda Studios that has something in store for us. They could be teasing Dishonored 2. Which was made by Arkane Studios but published by Bethesda Softworks. Either Dishonored 2 or a game set in that universe, a spin off or something. That's my guess, anyways. Especially considering the latest snippet.

Latest Vine tease.

Hahahahahaha!

Oh shit, I got a real good laugh from that one, thanks a lot :D

What got me to post this was my hope for Fallout 4. (Which, of course, I'd prefer from Obsidian, as I said ;)
I was already writing when I found Bethesda's dementi. The majority of comments here makes me feel accused of being a sycophantic Bethesda lover which, for the record, I'm not ;)

If you mean my post then I didn't accused you about anything. I didn't even thought about you writing this post.

Also there is nothing wrong in being fan of Bethesda.

Some sites are flat out saying it's Zwei now (well, "Shinji Mikami's new game"):

YAY! :D

Speaking about PR and marketing, other companies have been extremely successful at selling us crap for decades. People keep paying lots of money for their subpar, unstable products and don't seem to complain or actively demand that better alternatives be taken into account by the rest of the industry. And this is all due to their PR and marketing tactics, that make us believe they are our only choice.

And yes, I am talking about Windows :) MS sure can sell us crap, and I'm sure other companies want to do the same.

EDIT: Not saying this game is or will be bad. Just commenting on how people react to a few animated lights and colors.
