Ok, I fixed my "Black Screen" issue.

Please read: not sure if this sequence fixed it or if it was only the one but if you are running 3rd party anti-virus protection (mine is AVG) just disable it for now and try your game. (but be sure you have done the below first)

1) I have a nvida card and I manually found the driver and did a clean install.
2) make sure you has the newest Win 10 version 20H2
3) turn off all overlays eg. geforce experience and steam

Note: I also installed the game without the DLC bonus content.

after this I get full screen visuals back accompanied by the audio. Hope this helps.

Hello I just fixed my black screen/only sound bug on start of the game. If anyone still having it. Update your Windows to the latest version October 2020 with the assistant from the website (not the control panel).

ITS WORKING!. Updateing Windows to 20H2 solved the problem for me. Although checking for updates said I was up to date, I was actually still on version 1703. (You can check your version by going to Settings -> System -> About.)

You can force windows to update to version 20H2 here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

For all GTX 1080 and below users revert driver to 452.06 you should have no issues with black screen and other crap. Latest drivers from Nvidia is total garbage. You can read that on there feedback forum if u don't want to take my word for it.

So far, I have tried everything noted in this forum (and others), Windows update to 20H2, updated driver, DDU then updated driver, roll back to driver 452.06...all the things..ALL THE THINGS! Nothing works... Black screen with audio keeps chipping away at my soul....

I have not tried this but have read a few posts say they fixed it by getting to the game menu ( i ) and changing resolution in game. Again not sure if this works but at this point something is better than nothing to try at this point!!

Id like to give this thread a bump.

Ive been having the same problem ever since trying to first start the game this evening. Ive tried all the things but nothing seems to help. I find it extremely aggrevating that i have to jump through hoops to finally get the game started...

Any help from an official or at least some kind of recognition that somebody is working on this problem would be much appreciated.

System is running current gpu driver and windows is up to date. If further information is needed, i am glad to provide.

thank you very much.

Absolutely none of the tips mentioned in this thread have worked for me, including installing the hotfix released today... I'm at wits end here.

Same for me, I've updated to the latest windows update, 20H2, waited for the hotfix, reverted my driver versions, updated my drivers to the latest, validated my files, every proposed fix in this thread and elsewhere, but I'm still having this black screen + audio issue...

I was having issues that may help some people. I had the issue with the game completely lagging at 1fps even in menus. all i heard was the audio basically right at launch and the intro animations and everything were crawling at 1fps.

TWO THINGS.. Nvidia Geforce Experience INSTANT REPLAY feature has just absolutely gone to shit since the latest driver from December 9th (happens in Warzone as well where I previously used it on every game i played perfectly fine for recording replays). The issue did go away after reinstalling the drivers too, so don't be fooled by that, it just came back. So try turning that off if you have it on.

2nd thing; Windows game bar.. The game apparently hates windows/xbox game bar i can't even have it open while the game is playing now or i get 30fps regardless of graphics settings Low through to Ultra and i have a 3080 with 5800x CPU.

Is anyone else having these issues with xbox gamebar or geforce experience?
