Black screen, only HUD visible.

Hi all,

After installing patch 1.3, I can no longer see anything other than the menu and in-game HUD. Even the loading-screen is completely black. When I start a new game and skip the video, I can hear Geralt running through the forest, but don't actually see it.

I don't mind reinstalling, but maybe someone already encountered and fixed this. When hitting escape I notice the menu lags very badly. It takes quite some patience hitting the "BAck to the main menu" button. I alreayd reset the graphic settings, but nothing seems to help. Pre-1.3, I was playing TW2 on max settings with only UberSampling disabled.

try updating your drivers, or if u did try rolling back to driver version which worked,

Running latest ATI drivers. Game was working fine with it pre-1.3 and all my other games run fine without any problems. Something has sneaken into TW2 or something got corrupted, either way. If more people are experiencing this, please reply.

I'll reinstall and do a clean 1.0 to 1.3, rather than all the small patches I got over the last few months.

I have the opposite of this problem; can't see the hud! I can't see the journal, meditate, character attributes or the menu! When the game starts i can only get sound and can no longer see the atari logos etc. I have a crappy system but i completed the whole game with the 1.2 patch. I also did a clean install & 0 - 1.3 patch and no luck......

I'm sorry to hear you have this problem.

I wanted to report I fixed the issue. My DirectX9 was still running in debug mode. Some older DX9 games were also showing odd effects whereas DX10 games worked fine, which made me think about what I changed in DX9 the last few days.

Hope you get the issue shorted. Otherwise reinstall and do a clean 1.0 -> 1.3 like I was about to do!

I have directx 11 but how do i know if it's running in debug mode or not? Do i have to do a diagnostic check or something?

@Pabloincarnate: what key did you set up for HIDE HUD function? can you try to cange it and see if it helps ?

@Licaon i'm pretty sure it's not that; when i press the esc key during the game i can't even see that menu and i can't look for driver updates rite now so i'll put off playing the game for awhile

When i hide my HUD i can't press the esc button, it keeps freezing, like "pause" button.

@CalinRO; when it 'freezes', the esc menu's still there even though u can't see it; if you press esc and then down 4 or 5 times and space or enter you'll go back to the main menu. Try it.
