Black Screen when going to Character screen [PC]

When I try to level up my character or just enter the character menu, the game screen goes black. I can still hear the citizens of Flotsam still talking and going about their daily lives. I'm running the game on Ultra, but Ubersampling is the only thing disabled. All the DLC is enabled. Can anyone shed some light on this situation? Thank you!

Computer stats:
-AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.61 GHz
-8gb of DDR3 RAM @1600
-ATI Radeon HD 6950 with the latest drivers

If u have any mods installed, disable them and change ur aspecto ration to 16.9.

Thank you for the response. I disabled complete equipment overhaul and better combat and it worked! And my settings were always at 16:9. Thanks, again. Should I keep them disabled or do they even work with the EE update?

Try to edit advanced options cuz this problem in you video subsystem.

Pretty sure it has nothing to do with my video card or any video settings. The game ran perfectly before the installation of the mods.

I had the same problem. Re-installing the game fixed it. Didn't lose my saves.
