Black screen with normal sound

I've been having this game-stopping bug for a while and was hoping the EE patch would fix it but no

I played for 30 hours with no problem, and got to the king's camp ( I forget which one). I'm supposed to go to his tent and talk to him, but when I do I get a black screen like it's loading a cutscene and then the sound comes back, but no picture. i have to shut down the game to get out.

I got the EE patch to work (finally) after turning off all mods, but I still can't get past the same bug.

Submitted a ticket to cd project months ago and never heard back.

Please help!

Make sure you use 16/9 aspect ratio and not any other. Most people using other aspect ratio get that behaviour (black screen on videos but getting sound)

No change after changing ratio to 16/9. Still getting a black screen with what appears to be normal background sound.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

You said you turned off all mods does that mean you uninstalled all of them .

I disabled them from the launcher screen.

How do I uninstall them?

You'll need to check the instructions for each mod you're using. It should be in the mods readme file, or at the site where you picked up the mod. But I think we may have some confusion of names here - were you talking about 3rd-party mods, or the DLCs?

If you could only get the game to work by turning off the DLCs from the launcher, it sounds as though you could have some corrupt files in your installation.

If you're a Steam user, please verify the game cache. If you're not using Steam, it may be worth reinstalling.

I had 2 mods which I uninstalled and the rest were DLC which I deactivated.

Can I still use my save games if I reinstall?

can you try to replay an early section? did you use a pre-EE savegame and continued it?

I once heard someone say that they were experiencing a black screen in Henselt's tent that was related to an opponent glitching out without them knowing and being left in the arena. All it took to get past it was to go to the in-camp arena and fight them through the walls (since they couldn't actually get in there) until the opponent was dead. Then they stopped getting the black screen. It's possible that it's something like that with a related quest. I'd check the arena first.

That was after the Blood Curse quest, though. I can't tell by your post whether you just started Chapter 2 or if you're at the same point.

That just might be it! Sounds exactly like my problem. I'll check it out tonight!

Apparently this is in the patch notes:

38. Issue with triggered black screens blocking game progress has been resolved.

I can tell you that's BS.

Remember that you are using Pre-EE saved games and may not be fully compatible with the Enhanced Edition with which you are playing . The devs did say that they recommended a "new game" for the TW2EE .
