Zaic77, so you know better? ;)"The last wish" - is the first of the two volumes of short stories written by Sapkowski."Blood of the Elves" is the first of the five volumes of Witcher saga.

A new, more detailed version of the cover has been released. Funny thing is, the cover now features the tengwar, J.R.R. Tolkien's Elven alphabet, even though Sapkowski's elves use runes instead.

hehe, you're rigth, those are Tolkien's runes (or similar pattern) which are quite spread in fantasy fandom as a elven alphabet, so i suppose it's choice were made by a kind of natural connotation. well, we who already know Witcher world (especially if you had already chance to read saga) know those connotations are a huge misinterpretation. but at the same time the bigger surprise would it be for the readers :) and the cover stylisation reminds me DnD handbooks. imho it doesn't suit The Witcher Saga mood, but in that case the content in more important than wrapper. in original (Polish) saga had great language and style, so better pray for keeping all that tasty meat of AS's writing style ;)

Will "Blood of Elves" be translated by Danusia Stok, too?

So happy about this. Honestly I wish I could read Polish so I could read the originals, just in case something gets lost in translation, but other than that I am stoked. Be interesting to see how mush it will cost though. ;D

That's all fine, but I would be much happier if it would be translated into german, too. ;)Seems like I have to polish my old school english and buy the english book then. ;D

Sorry can't help you there. However the English version of The Last Wish In Australia costs between 20 - 25 dollars (12 - 15 Euro.) I am guessing when they release Blood Elves it will be about the same. Maybe this has helped I don't know lol. ;D

Hi,I just looked it up at amazon: Release should be 18th September. Price: paperback: 17,99 Euro hardcover: 26,99 Euro AND....in Oktober 2009 should come "Times of anger" according to amazon...Can hardly wait...Normally takes it 2 or 3 months longer for the german version, I hope for everyone, who doesn´t want to read the english version, not this time. but don't trust their release dates. I pre-ordered the french edition, which was advertised to be available 2 weeks ago, and it is not :)

Actually we should get the German version of "Sword of Destiny" September this year. German publishing house dtp decided to bring forward the release ot that book, don't know why. dtp also plans to release the novels than (starting from Sept) every six months. Hence it could be true that we get "Blood of the Elves" in September... means we are blessed with two witcher works this year.

This is more out of curiosity for a Non-German but will it be in Low German or High German dialect? Is writing seperated into the two? Lastly what's the main difference between the two other than one is spoken in the north while the other is spoken in the south. ;)

The books are all written in normal (high) german, but if you go to the north or to Bavaria they only speak their (native) slang ;)

Interesting to know, I had no idea they spoke two forms until I was looking up the origins of old English and saw old German which then told about low and high. lol. ;D
