I just got back from the bookstore (Chapters)... They took over 30 minutes to find it, I had like 4 people looking for it all over LOL They also didn't have the cover image on file, so there I was telling them all, "It's green, has these two swords crossed on the cover..." ;D Eventually, someone found it in the back, still in the October 31st releases section that weren't placed on the shelves.Yay book! I'm happy!

Thanks for the heads up about Chapters! I had pre-ordred it from Amazon dot ca and still have not recieved it! They keep pushing the date back. I also looked online at Chapters but saw it was OOS. I read your post and just phoned the store in London and they have 3 of them. I am going to pick it up today. Thanks again, much appreciated.

I'm so depresse that "Sword of Destiny" is not to translated into english. I hope that all of the books sell enough to warrant english trasnslations.

:) Be glad, you don't had to read it in german... german is the most difficult language in the world.

If I want to read Sword of Destiny, I'll have to read it in German :D Which I could do, if a little slowly and with my dictionary by my side :) but I'll have to figure out how to get my hands on the German version from Australia ???Hell, I can't even get Blood of Elves, despite a couple of bookshops telling me "it should be out now, it should be out now" - well, get it in stock, fools! :(I wonder if I could stage some sort of mini-protest outside a major bookstore or something :D dressed as a character from the books (or game, if we're thinking visually here) and camping at their registers until someone orders me a copy :) hmmm, perhaps I'd better not threaten to come back and slay every lice-ridden peasant who moves but can't climb a tree, though ;D

When I worked at a bookstore, they would special-order any book in print. That was a long time ago now, and not in Australia, but I'd think somebody would be willing to order it for you. Just ask, "Do you do special orders?"

*smile* I love your posts!Actually, I imagine few Australians, peasants or otherwise, have lice these days ... so you might find no one to slay -- very sad! ;)

Australian's have lice! HOW DARE YOU...I'm Australian and don't call us lice ridden peasants...OKOk back to the topicI finally bought Blood of the Elves and yes Australia has finally got the book in after three months delay. When I ask about BotE in Dymocks book store as it was under "Special order" about it they said it suppose to be out but put on hold.So basically they were saying the publishers delayed the release in Australia. So each week or so I keep checking Kinokunya, Dymocks & Borders books stores because each store had the same thing....all were delayed. So finally they managed to release it for Christmas...I guess so they can get better sales for christmas shopping.Well I now have the first tome...and now I have to find time to read it.When the rest of the saga comes out I don't know since I haven't even started looking yet...I think I'm glade that I even got The Last wish and Blood of the Elves so far.And no racist jokes about Australians please....we do play the witcher and read Sapkwoski so where no different from you.

I speak both German and English rather well and was wondering which translation i should prefer. Is there anyone that has read both or parts of both at least, and has an opinion on this matter?

Yep – my boyfriend bought me a copy for Christmas :D In fact, it's right here in bed with me, under my eeePC so it doesn't sink into the blankets and overheat :D Why the dimensions had to be altered so it's a completely different size to The Last Wish, I have no idea, though ???The woman at the counter at Dymocks thought I was trying to special order... err... “adult” fantasy, if you catch my drift :wall: I have no idea why, considering I asked, “would it be possible to place a book on order, please? The author is Sapkowski, the title is Blood of Elves.”Yep, clearly I'm a deviant :DAfter that little hiccup, though, segmentor managed to secure a copy, and he even let me have it before Christmas so I could take it with me on holiday :) I even managed to freak out a lawyer at work (I work in a law firm :wall: ) with this book. There's not too many fantasy readers at work ;) much less fantasy-reading, RPG-playing, technology geeks who dress like a cross between Abby from NCIS and a medieval-fayre attending ren-faery! :D So those are my little Blood of Elves adventures :D After all that; all those jumping through hoops, continually checking bookstore shelves and battling all sorts of strange looks, I finally got me a copy (thanks to segmentor). And no threats of slaying anybody required! Awesome :)And no, I don't think Australians have lice  I wouldn't be thinking it through if I were to insinuate that, as that would be to include myself! :)

yes I have read it, the translation is good however having not read the polish original its hard to judge whether the translator did a good job or not. I enjoyed it, anyway, and have reread it about three times now!

:)Another fan then? :beer:I have to say I read the saga every year...since1999 I suppose? For me personally its a great read on a Tolkien level. But it is its "a scanner darkly" image. Where Tolkien writes high fantasy, Sapkowski is down to the gritty realism, dirty but subtle in its rough form...Its hard to express it in words, worse if youre not a english native speaker ;)I red Tolkien in english back in the days, with a dictionary although I was studying english filology. I just wish it could be the other way around for you... heh ;DLet me tell you it really gets better! Its like an avalanche, a rock, a boulder rolling down the hill...LITTLE SPOILER!!!And in the final novel, the battle scene...it is the BEST description of battle I've red so far.
