Brand new XBOX One, brand new game - can't get past first cutscene...

I've been trying to get the Witcher 3 to run on my brand new XBO since yesterday. I am stuck in an infinite loading screen after the first cutscene - the camera zooms in on Gerald and then the loading screen comes up. That's all I've seen of the game so far.

So far I've been trying:
1. Uninstalling and reinstalingl with and without the newest patch
2. Turning the console off and removing the power supply. After a few minutes, I turned it back on.
3. Deleting the local save file and syncing the game with the cloud save.

Apparently these fixes solved the problem for other users, but I am still stuck. I must have been watching the cutscene for about 10 times by now, it's starting to drive me crazy.

I would like to know a working solution for this bug. This is in fact the first time that I've encountered a game breaking problem of this dimension on a console. What is the cause of that problem? Obviously, others have been in the same pickle.

Btw - it's a 1TB XBO. Regarding that in some discussions about the "loading screen bug" it was stated that the bug occurred because the HDD could not be accessed.

If you have the physical version try going offline and install it,let the game install completley then start the game and let the patch intall completley,,see if that works.

I will give that a try. Might be that I screwed something up in the installation process because I didn't wait until the game was installed completely.

You're definitely not alone mate.... Search for my constant crash thread. I've taken similar steps (but over and over with each patch) and it's still fked.

Posting here won't help. You'll get the usual hard reset replies which means it's clear ppl don't take the time to read the symptoms/effort expended.

I don't believe it will ever be fixed on console.

Only quick solution I could think of is trying to download the game on an external hardrive and trying again. This will make sure your internal xbox hardrive is not the problem.

O.k. - I tried the clean reinstall of the game and the patch to version 1.08. Still no luck. Regarding the solution about the external harddrive - I don't seem to have any problems with any other games so far, therefore I think a problem with the drive seems to be highly unlikely.

As of right now I'm at a loss about what to do. It's kind of frustrating, the beauty of console gaming used to be: Pop in the game and enjoy. There was no need to worry about system requirements or bugs and patches... Good times... ;-)

Did you try starting it with your xbox on offline mode,then make a save and try to go back online,has woked for some.

I installed in offline mode. Then I started the game while being online and the patch was installed. I don't get to the point where I can create a save, right after the camera pans to Gerald sleeping in the camp with Vezemir the game gets stuck in the infinite loading loop from hell...
At an earlier try I tried to play the game offline without the patch installed - same result.

I returned the game to the store yesterday - maybe I'll give a future (enhanced) version another try. Thank you for your help to the members who provided me with tips.

@CD-Projekt: I'm quite disappointed that none of the developers / support crew chimed into this thread. What I learn from this is: I'll never buy a game from you again before it has not been out for at least a year - by that time the quality issues should have been addressed. The irony of your policy to rush games out of the door that are not bug free is that you disappoint the adult gamers with full time jobs and families who are willing to pay full price but have neither the time nor the patience for doing your quality assurance work. That was the last time I spent the full price on one of your products.

Well what if your Xbox is defective? 99.9% of users aren't having the issues you had and I am apart of that 99.9%. Fix your system

Maybe it was a defective disc

99.9% is a bit optimistic! Alot of xbox users are suffering.

I even borrowed a friends disc who decided not to play after the issues I had and guess what, his brand new, unused disc made no difference to the issues I've suffered. I admit I've gotten further than the OP but why take a cheap shot at someone having issues, why not try something more constructive..... Just sayin.
