Broken Combat
Just to start, this isn't one of those "I don't like the combat" threads
I like the combat just fine. The problem however, is that it seems that patch 1.08.3 broke the combat. Sounds are missing from almost all but the last strikes from my sword, which makes it weird to hit monsters since I don't get feedback from the game, other than damage done.
I was in the Whale Graveyard picking up the Griffin set there and the bandit didn't seem to be in the way of my sword. Finishers are also even more off than they were since the latest round of patches, in that I only performed the original ones and none of the DLC ones. This has incidentally not been really broken for me, although I think one of the DLC ones has been broken since 1.08. Just prior to this I went to the treasure which the golem is protecting near the Druids and there I noticed that every time I hit the golem, he would instantly turn towards me, regardless of which way he was facing when I struck. And I don't mean that the golem turned, but that it would instantly be facing me if I struck it, which made hitting it from behind more than once impossible, Was also missing sound from most strikes. That time I shrugged it off as a random bug and wandered towards the Whale Graveyard.
From there I sailed to An Skellig to do the Tower quest there, and had the same problem despite having reloaded the game previously to shake off bugs (like you do sometimes when the game starts bugging a little), but I had the exact same thing happen with the golem there, it would instantly be facing me if I hit it and the sounds were off in the same way.
I've fought some wolves as well and it was the same with the sound there.
1.08.2 was fine for me, but having just updated (playing the GOG version) these problems appeared. Not really expecting any magical solutions but it would be nice if you guys put this high on your list to fix if confirmed to be a real bug since it completely destroys the combat in the game, which I quite enjoy. Having played over 400 hours i've had minimum problems with the game and this is the first time I've encountered anything game-breaking so would much appreciate this being fixed.
With the previous patch (1.08.2) I had some random horse riding stutter which went away with a reload, but hadn't experienced that since I changed the frames ahead setting in Nvidia Control Panel, and that stutter was also a little different from the original one.
Just an aside, I know you guys are probably trying to solve it, but would really appreciate a fix for the character pop in since it's really jarring and takes a lot from the game.
Other than this, thank you so much for this game and your continued effort. Hope these problems get fixed soon so I can continue this wonderful journey of a game. You guys need anything from me just ask, am happy to help if I can.
