[bug] Boat Acceleration bug

Acceleration (double shift) on the boat is completely unreliable. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it just doesn't work, the boat have only the normal speed available. I need to release the helm and take it again several times to make the acceleration work again. A few times I was able to accelerate only after I change the boat I was using. Needless to say that this make Skellige a complete nightmare, since I find myself in the middle of the ocean with a boat that just refuse to accelerate and move way too slow in normal speed.

Sometimes the boat will also go backwards when I'm pressing to move forward, then I need to move back and fort several times into it get back to normal.

edit: If I save the game holding the helm when it isn't accelerating, then load the save, the acceleration will work again, as long as I don't release the helm.

By the way, my boat have no damage, just in case it have any effect on acceleration.

Yea, sadly, its been bugged since 1.03 when I began using boats... Still, this is bugged in 1.07.

1. Sometimes acceleration works, other times it doesn't... Skellige is ruined and frustrating traveling by boat with all of those smuggler-cache question-marks in the ocean...

Good-lord....

protip: use crossbow. wait until the sirens attach themselves to the side of the boat. it's like shooting drowners :\

but yea, another control bug? i didn't even know this 'feature' existed ;o

You don't have to double tap Shift to accelerate the boat.

Just hold it down. You don't even need to push forward, either.

For the first few weeks I didn't know the boat had an accelerate function at all (just like horse jump). It's another hard coded kb bind that they for some stupid reason didnt link to the primary key it's supposed to (sprint), so I had to edit it manually in the input file and bind it to RShift, where I remapped Sprint.

Apparently CDPR didn't think PC players would wish to remap their keys... or they hired somebody who thought that to design the control scheme.

well, if it's just sprint, then holding it works. so no idea what that's about... also, you don't need to bind GI_Accelerate. it does nothing... gamepad only (GI = Gamepad Input). the only ones needed are the directions, but those are all mapped in the ini/xml, the keyboard ones map directly to the gamepad controls. essentially the keyboard is emulating the gamepad for movement (but with integer values +1/-1 for axes instead of analog fractional values from 0-1) ;p

but there are/were various issue in the game which require dbl-click. maybe they broke something again... ;o horsejump used to require it. fixed in v1.07. modified strong attack still requires dbl-click in 90% of cases.

Actually, yep, you are correct. I was confusing this with the newly added Stash button (to open it). That one I had to remap to IK_NumPad0=(Action=Stash) because it's hard-coded to E.

And yes, just holding Shift does the job in a boat. No double-clicking required. I assume it's because there aren't 3 travel speeds with a boat as there are with Roach.
