Had this too one time. I play 1.02, so it is not connected to the patches. It happened, when Geralt jumped down on a ledge below. After this he hopped like a rabbit, every second or so, SPACE key did not change anything. You could change Geralts direction, but the hopping did not stop. Looked quite funny, but I found no fix for it. Other people here have mentioned, that it happens at the end of combat too, but for my case it happened completely outside of combat. People also reported, that the state fixed itself, if Geralt would go into combat again. Was impossible for me, since there were no enemies...
I also had to reload a save. Yet...
I save very often as you should do in such a game anyway. I had (quick)saved before the jump, and so nothing was lost.
Many people here do not have saves in a reasonable time distance. Quicksave is fine, but not always a good solution, since every quicksave is overwritten by the next quicksave.
They will fix all these bugs, but that will take time, probably months.
So my advice: Save often! I save before every fight (as far as I can foresee it), after every fight, and after every important quest step. Quests do 'checkpoint saves', but sometimes these saves disappear again. If you do a manual save in an empty slot, it persists. A save has 1-2 MB, so this is no problem nowadays, isn't it?
I enjoy the game in 1.02. Had several small problems like the above mentioned problem - and could always fix it by a restore.
