[BUG] Quest Treasure hunt: Inheritance

Quest in title. Suggested level 14, is the standard, read a letter, use key on chest to get reward.. i used the key on the chest b4 i read the notice i think,.. now the quest is stuck in my journal. been traveling around abit and then i came back again.. chest is now locked.. but ive already used the key so i cant open it 1 more time

I can't even find the chest, been using witcher senses insde the quest circle but found nothing.

got the same problem iv read the letter and searched for the chest and only 1 i found was at the back of the building under the wooden roof next to the lake, looted it and still nothing and there is no other chest in the area, if there is its invisible.

Having the exact same problem; got the letter/key, looted the chest and the quest doesn't complete. Had this happen with the treausre hunts :Family fortune, Pearls of the coast and Dont play with the Gods, pretty frustrating.

Still have that dirty funds quest stuck in my quest log. You don't get any XP from completing the quest anyway, it's just rather annoying as you can't abandon the quest or anything.

Have it too. Looted the body, read the letter, and then looted the red chest in the rubble. Also looted the chest behind the building--end result I still haven't completed it.

went back and had another look standing in front of the red chest and cant open it even after looting body 4 the key and reading the letter.

at the moment i'm on on final preparations quest, every other quest is complete apart from dirty funds that never gave me the letter to read and if it did didnt activate the next part of the chain.

quest item keys i have are, key to whoreson junior's estate x 3, padlock key, key, cage key x 2, bandit's key, key to prison, key to vigi's cage.

out of all of them would think its the one named just key. yet cant even open the chest.

As others have said, the treasure hunt quests are bugged; sometimes when you've opened the required chest, they don't complete. I suggest all people who have this problem send in a bug report using this form http://en.cdprojektred.com/contact-support/

few weeks back i contacted them about this quest when the chest comes back locked requires key and i have sent them my save file standing right next to the chest for them to see the problem. as of yet i still haven't heard anything back from them to say they have fixed the problem. i'm waiting on patch 1.05 due very soon to see if its been fixed in that.

Same problems here. I'm unable to complete the treasure hunt "Inheritance" because I looted the body, looted the chest, then read the letter. The order is very important, apparently.

I've attempted a few workarounds but nothing has worked. I hope they fix this issue by patch 1.08 (or sooner).

Patch 1.08 and treasure hunt "Inheritance" is still bugged. I can't open the chest even though I have both the key and the letter. If there's another thread for this glitch, please post. I'd like this resolved since it's the final quest in my log.

I just ran into this quest, and completed it after messing around a bit. Initally I couldn't complete it, because when I found the body with the key and the letter, I didnt read the letter until after I opended the chest. I reloaded a save, read the letter, opended the chest, but still didnt complete it. Tried numerous times. I found that the only way to complete the quest was picking up key and letter. Reading the letter, tracking the quest, then positioning yourself next to the shovel leaning on the wall next to the chest, and opening it. From the other angles it didn't seem to complete. Build 1.08

No idea if the positioning part is required, or if said quest randomly doesn't complete when it opens chest, but the one time I stood there, it completed, so it's worth a shot for anyone having issues.
