Bug Reports - Witcher 3 NextGen Version

In the hopes that we will get another patch and that CDPR reads this, here are some bugs I've found on PC:

  1. Upscaling options to not apply to Geralts model in the Inventory UI causing very noticable aliasing. TAAU however works.
  2. As reported by others, shadows received a massive downgrade compared to 1.32 and are downright broken in Toussaint with terrible flickering as shown in this video
    This can be somewhat mitigated by obscene shadow cascade scale values and a shadow cascade map size of 8192 (double the value of ultra+)
  3. In Beauclair palace there's a partially missing pillar
  4. Invisible pool of water at Castel Ravello Vineyard
  5. This has existed since since 1.32. There are floating misaligned ground textures in several places, e.g. Beauclair and Novigrad. These seem like alpha textures layered on top of the actual floor with characters always being layered on top
  6. The brick wall at Crow's Perch in the Bloody Baron's house looks very strange
  7. Some object culling issues causing flickering for distant objects.
    • Near Cockatrice Inn in Toussaint
    • Trees in Toussaint when looking from Toussaint Palace into the distance
    • Distant building flickering when moving the camera slightly
    • Tourney Ground smoke flickering when moving between some areas

1. There is an option to press Shift twice to ride with maximal speed. It disappears in city (which is feature I bet); but also sometimes you lose it in open, after certain cutscenes. Not sure how to reproduce it reliably :( It gets fixed by dismounting and riding again, or by taking either of your swords out; also gotta add that this is not just next gen bug - it exists for ages.

2. "Races: Crow's Perch" quest disappears totally. It used to disappear after you visit Skellige (or maybe after you get to Isle of Mists?), but reappear again after you finish the main plotline; in 4.X, though, it disappears forever (even quest NPC doesn't appear anymore). Likewise, both Velen and Novigrad fistfighting quests disappear from boards, but at least quest NPCs stay, so you can earn your extra bits of exp if you visit these NPCs without help of quest markers.

3. During the start of "A Matter of Life and Death" quest, if you equip the nilfgaardian set obtained from meeting with Emhyr (assuming that you didn't sell it) to gain extra exp and Triss' approval, the cutscene doesn't start - it just loads forever. I had to reequip the usual armor and lose 25 exp to circumvent it, but at least this was a way to continue the plot. I'm sure it was NOT like this in 1.12 to 1.34 (because "saving emperor's eq to please Triss, later Yen and much later Anna Henrietta w/o extra expenses" was a trick I was performing in my every playthrough, except for the very first one. Buying other kind of eq fitting for the quest in question from Elihal didn't help either. Maybe this bug is related to voice file(s) where Triss approves Geralt's choice of costume (or maybe it is valid for Russian translation only).

I love the Witcher 3 next gen and appreciate the fact that CDPR has been trying to optimize the game, but I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed that after 8 years there are still bugs and quests that they haven't fixed in the game. Please take note that below issues are ongoing even after I cleared the cache and restarted my Xbox Series X.

Bugs on my Xbox Series X are:

1. The game freezes pointlesly after startup on "The Final Preparation" quest.

2. After I completed the quests Wine Wars: The Deus In The Machina, Wine Wars: Coronata & Wine Wars Vermintino, and collected my reward to start Wine Wars Belgaard and died, the game then took me back all the way to the checkpoint where I had to yet again collect my award for both Wine Wars Quests which was very frustrating, as I had to redo everything again. This happened 3 times even after I saved the game, so I gave up.

3. When completing the horse race in Novigrad, it won't allow you to progress, as it's asking you to do the same race over again.

4. Upon killing the Fire Elemental in the "The Witcher Forge" quest, Geralt starts to jump pointlesly without stopping. It's very frustrating, as I'm unable to complete the quest even after saving, as Geralt won't stop jumping.

5. Crach's reward is still broken if you kill Hammond, as Crach gives you no reward/pay at the end, as he promised.

6. Dead Ves is still broken, as she will still be seen alive in the cutscenes of Radovid's assassination despite of being dead.

7. The quest "An Unpaid Debt" is still broken. This is the quest whereby you take Simon's help to get out of prison. At the end of the quest if you side with the man that Simon wants you to kill and kill Simon instead, the quest log will say that you helped Simon regardless.

CDPR, please can you urgently advise when the above issues will be addressed?
 
Way too many crafted swords use the wrong models. This happened years ago when it at first wasn't an issue, broke in a patch, then never fixed. Steiger, Digger, Tamer, Viper swords (fixed with HoS DLC then subsequently broken again with next patch) Longclaw (model doesn't even exist) Negotiator, Mahakam, etc.

normal blend or the wrinkles on faces are broken, it is most noticeable on Triss and Ciri. they work fine in 1.32 version.
 
Interesting. I've not encountered this one before. Have you tried enabling/disabling Hairworks? Does either option work -- or does the hair just not display at all?
Doesn't work with Hairworks, don't know about otherwise (always use hairworks) - but from other comments I've read, it's both. This is kinda a big thing, so hopefully there will another patch or two from CDPR, fixing some of these remaining bugs.

You can find the details for cross-progression (both between platform and versions) on the Support pages. Here's PC, but there are also steps for the consoles, if you're on XBox, Playstation, or Switch.

 
On Xbox the Ciri alternative look isn't recognized in installed addons, so it's not possible to import any cross game save. :(((

Update: I totally uninstalled the game and installed it again with all the addons. Still, the Ciri alternative look is not recognized, so the crossplay is broken on Xbox.

Geralt never blinking until he give a punch
And for NPCs they never blinking too outside talk scense, dead NPCs are chew their tongues and open their eyes, plz fix this thx!
 
As a lot of people here and on various reddit, steam and gog threads have mentioned I am also encountering a crash to desktop when moving and equipping anything in inventory. This started happening after 4.04. I though it was jus me, but when I saw it on various posts and managed to reproduce it on 4 different PC's, I know this more widespread. I have narrowed it down to hairworks, and turning it to low or disabling it removes the crashes. I would really like this issue to be resolved. Are any of you having this issue?
 
The last update was half a year ago, there are still a ton of game breaking bugs, and devs don't seem to be actively working on the game now...

Well, no doubt it's because most of Devs currently work on Cyberpunk for now (after 2.0 update, Phantom Liberty, 2.1 update and Ultimare Edition releases).
 
Scabbard shading is still broken after next gen update and nilgaardian decorative swords are still netflix version even after disabling netflix dlc:

I want to report an issue with the apply of alternative appearance to nilfgaard armors.
Atfer switch on this option it seems guards no longer ables to speak :(

If I remember right, originally from a playthrough of 2018.
I crafted a second standard grapeshot bomb while already having the superior version.
So, I was left with two.
It doesn't get destroyed when I drop it like it should, like it did for my extra swallow potion.
