"Contact: Phantom of the Trade Route" problem

I'm playing on PC, when I was at level 14 I was exploring the map. I've approached a place with 2 wyvern nests (the ones Geralt is about to destroy in quest "Phantom of the Trade Route"), killed the nearby wyverns and destroyed the nests. After a while royal wyvern appeared, I tried to kill it several times, but was unable to (recommended quest level is 23). I lef the place without killing the royal wyvern. Now I'm on level 18 and I came back to this place, to finish the quest, but the royal wyvern never shows up. Quest marker says "Wait for royal wyvern to take the bait" but nothing happens. I tried waiting and meditating, no result.

I'm playing Polish version on PC (Windows 8.1 64-bit), this was present both in version 1.03 and 1.04

Not sure if it's needed, but here's my system spec just in case:

I have the same issue. Found the two nests while exploring and killed them thinking they were normal nests. Then the Royal shows up on trigger of killing second nest. Ran away due to being a lower level than needed. Tried coming back later and he will not spawn again because the game wants you to kill the nests to trigger the Royal to come in.

Hopefully they can either reset the nest or have the boss chill there waiting for us to come back.

Same here, on PS4. That's what you get for exploring the world instead of rushing through all the quests... Completed
the game on Death March and only need this one to get my platinum trophy, but I can't because the wyvern appears
to be below the earth.

Will this get a fix or should I start on a new game....

Hey guys,

Same issue here, although a bit different.
I was level 14 when venturing up the hill, killing the 2 initial wyverns.
Then the big one came and totally owned my ass.
So I ran with 10% hp back in the cave, he couldnt follow me in there, now I went back to take my revenge and the wyvern is gone.

No matter what I do and what I try, nothing happens.
I destroyed the nests in the first try I had with it, and it seems that is the trigger for the appeareance of the royal wyvern.
Anyone tried to do this again or is there any way to reset this quest?

My quest log says "wait for the royal wyvern to take the bait".

Ok this worked for me, had the exact same bug as you guys have described.

When I visit the area, I notice that the Wyvern is there, but on the cliff about 50 metres below- maybe it's the in game 'spawn point' or something, I just slid down the mountain a few times next to it, each time running back up via the cave entrance and getting it a bit more annoyed each time.

One time back up the top, i was able to target it, threw a couple of bombs and it took to the air and attacked me..

killed it, got trophy.

Same Bug here on PC. Killed the 2 Wvyrens -> ran away from the big one, came back later well yeah the royal one is not coming and I cannot finish the quest

easy fix, don't run away in the first place, i just kicked the royal wyvern's ass at level 12 with 0 health loss. took the dark souls approach, if you don't succeed try again.

Same 'ish prob as OP. Both nests destroyed, objective states 'Kill the Royal Wyvern'. It just wont re-appear for me. Tried to meditate near the nests, tried the save/load thing, still no joy. Cant see him on the cliff anywhere. Also, the objective marker for the wyvern itself is well south of the nests, checked there and nothing.

A bit too late for me. I have had played 30+ hours after running away and yeah now it is not coming

Glad I didn't try to kill those things when I first went through there at a lower level.

Went back when I was a more appropriate 4 levels beneath the quest listing, and had no problems.

When I went to turn the quest in I found the npc levitating horizontally with his feet in a bucket....gout sucks lol. I am playing on xbox one and would have no problem sending a save file except I have no clue how to do it. I hope you guys can figure this out its keeping me from getting the achievement.

Royal wyvern is stuck on side of the mountain after i destroyed both nests and came back

Same deal with me, playing on PS4, level 8 killed the wyverns and nests. Left when I couldn't beat the Royal Wyvern. Came back later and the wyvern is now stuck half way down the mountain. I can slide past him but it's too slippery to jump back or to engage him.

I had the same problem, but it isn't that hard to get it to trigger. On the PS4 he is on the side of the mountain like some other guys have said. Spawn point I guess. Anyway, what I did was drop off that first ledge and stay right there near the top and I was able to hit him with the crossbow a few times.....if you get him down a third or maybe half of his health he will fly off the cliff and come after you...I slid down, since I couldn't fight him on that ledge and ran around through the cave back up to the top and killed him quite easily. Give it a try, it may take a few times.

hi!
i just registered to say something about it. a friend of mine gift me the game a weeks ago. i was the same explorind destroyed the nests the wyvern appeared, i paniqued and ran away as hell.

when i was fewer levels below i came back and i had the marker down the cliff but i wasnt able to watch the wyvern, went down to the shore but nothing. googled it and i got here read about the bombs, didnt work for me.

first try i managed to go down the cliff sliding, i didnt die (i went down just aligned to the marker) so i slide down at some point i crashed with the wyvern he was stuckd on the terrain but as i conituned to go down sliding he became hostile started flying around so i just had to go all the way back to the top.

i don't know how lucky i was to slide instead just falling and dying, maybe you can try several times if the marker of the objective (royal wyvern) is down the cliff.
