religion is the opium of the people! why is there no option to finish the quest by letting them continue what they do!?

What quest do you mean?
the one where you have to pick up those god-statues for that old woman ..(one of the first quest you encounter - level 10 or something)

my problem is that you fail the quest when you leave the students alone..
it should count as completed too

Same here. I actually decided to postpone finishing that quest for a very long time because I didn't want to complete it.

Siding with the students here but at least the quest designed got the message out.

You failed in that you did not complete the mission parameters, I.E. fix all the statues and uphold the local faith.

Your contract is to fix 3 statues. If you let the students destroy the last one, you failed to fulfill your contract. What's the issue?

well there are about one hundred quest in the witcher where the contract objective changes during the course of the quest!

and this is one of the few quests where the right decission is evident and i get a quest failed for that!?

But the contract objective in that particular quest does not change. You agreed to fix 3 statues. You did not fix 3 statues. There is no decision to make.

but the motivation changed - when i learned who and why they are doing this it made sense.
its like in many quest in the game where you learn the villian is the victim and decide to change your course of action.
in those cases i am still able to finish the quests.

Made sense to you, maybe...
I guess there was a choice to make, either honor your agreement, or not. You chose not to honor your agreement. Live with your choice.

chopped these Hóng Wèibīng students to tiny bits

this isnt even intended - it goes into a fist fight after dialog ends. (geralt does not seem to like to really hurt them)

i mean destroying cultural goods is wrong - so i didnt like their doing but the motivations where for the good of the people, also not many educated people in the witcher world so it was nice to see some at last!

anyway i think that by not stoping them the quest should complete aswell (not fail) and this happens a lot in other quest:
you get send to do X but end up doing the oposite and still finish the quest

I'm not quite sure, but wasn't there an option to let them continue and not care?

I failed some quests on purpose, as I didn't want to partake in some quests for roleplaying reasons. But I have to admit, the red flag "Failed Quests" does bother me a little - I did not fail, I made a decision!
