All I can tell you is that they changed the bink player on Patch 1.4. And single core processors don't like the new version of bink. Multi-core processors don't have any problems with it, though.Most noticeable during that long intro movie. The narration plays fine because that sound is coming from the game, but the sound effects and the singing will skip in and out because that sound is coming from the bink movie player, which is really the binkw32.dll file. Changing the binkw32.dll to version 1.9.1.0 fixes the problem with single core processors. However, finding that certain version isn't easy and is considered piracy by the folks that own bink. Developers of witcher would have to buy it, to make it easily available for single core processor, witcher owners; and I doubt they'll ever do that.
