I wouldn't count on it, but it's not impossible. Although it hasn't been denied (to my knowledge at least) the devs and footage has given no indication that it would be an included feature. I think it would be pretty wonky and work in weird ways if you could just jump and perform a sword swing, but I can see diving attacks as working in cool ways with the proper elevation.

There has been some promotional art that shows it might be a thing though...

I could understand why devs cannot implement this - after all this is not some pseudo historical parkour tour (*cough*assassins creed*cough) XD. But at least we can expect some sweet moves choreographed and animated into sweet sweet cut scenes. :)

The more full combat control/animations for the player, the better.

I'm pulling the Dragon's Dogma card again... In that game you can jump up/forward and attack in mid-air. The animations are cool and it's way fun.
They have one animation if you jump straight up, it will slightly change animation when you push the toggle forward in mid-air attack.
I can't explain it, you have to play it.

I would love to see something like this in-game...

Not in a cinematic scene but as one of Geralt's finishing moves I mean.

Unfortunately... probably it won't happen which is kind of sad.

It will be cool that for example, geralt is fighting with 3 drowners and one flying monster, first he jump and make 1 or 2 slashes in the air, and then when he falls down, use the aard sign to stomp the drowners.

I think I heard or read something about there being a few instances of getting the higher ground in some fights, I would hope that could possibly include a plunging attack kind of like in Dark Souls. They could make that one of the requirements for certain monsters in regards to exploiting weaknesses and disabling some of their abilities (scrapped VATS system) for example Lambert stabbing the Fiend in its third eye in that screenshot.

The Dragon's Dogma card ain't valid in my opinion. Because DD is a shit game.

Let RED do what they do best. The very idea that people are bothered by the fact that a "diving attack" might not be present in the game, really fucking upsets me.

Besides, RED should be looking at other talented developers and other well designed games for ideas. Like Rocksteady's Arkham games and FromSofts Souls games. DD had a gimmick. Granted, a visually pleasing and gratifying gimmick, but it was a gimmick nonetheless. There was little substance in that game. I'd rather nobody look for inspiration there.

I doubt there'll be jumping stab attack like in many Capcom games. but maybe they could do a drop attack since we can climb stuff now. I don't mean ASScreed insta-kill style, but an attack that gives Geralt a bonus on damage.

I agree that most of dragon's dogma was shit i.e the story, the annoying pawns that would never shut up. But the few things they did do right, can still inspire cdpr devs to do it even better. RDR is another game that should inspire them to do better. Anyways... Dragon's dogma's high points are some of it's combat and monster animations, that monster climbing was great fun. Gimmick or not, I loved it! NG+/Hard Mode & Speed Run Mode made the game worth playing again & again just to level up and be a total monster slaying badass. I have not been into a game like this since Blood Omen & Soul Reaver. I think the New Game Plus takes the cake, but yeah... I could go on and on about all the things I didn't like about Dragon's Dogma from high-lighted loot logs and rocks to pick up to awful water effects and the fact that is was a cheesy little kid drivin story. But yeah, odds are we'll never see a Dragon's Dogma 2 since CAPCOM is trying to sell it's self as we speak. But then again who needs a Dragon's Dogma 2 when we have The Witcher lll Wild Hunt on the horizon. So if devs add the best features from games like DD & RDR and whatever else in their own Adult Witcher Style, It Will Be The Best Dark RPG/ACTION Game Ever Made. & From what I can see the cdpr team devs are doing just that. & this is why I am so stoked to play TW3.;)
