Can I run the witcher 2? Help a student out!

Hey everyone!

Didn't know whether to post this in the tech support forum or here... anyway.

I've really been looking forward to playing the game but due to different things, I haven't been able to do so before now.

My question is basicly just: Will my pc be able to run the Witcher 2 at a satisfying level? (at the lowest settings)

My system:


Windows XP SP 3

AMD Phenom 9950 Quad-Core Processor 2,6GHz

2 GB RAM

ATI Radeon HD 4800 512 MB




As I'm studying, I don't have much money, so upgrading my pc's pretty much out of the question.
I'm fine with playing at the lowest settings, just as long as the framerate's alright.

I have an Xbox 360 as well but the console release is pretty far off, and I'd really rather play it on pc (if possible).


So anyway... can my pc run the game or am I better off waiting for the Xbox port?

I'm playing at 1280x768.

You should be able to play maybe even on medium, it depends on what FPS are you expecting. I played on Dual Core 5200(which is slower than yours CPU), 2 GB, and GTX 460. However there is drivers issue with ATI Gfx

You should be fine on medium or low. You should get at least around 20-30 FPS on low if not more, not sure.

20-30 fps is perfectly fine! Think I will try and pick up a copy and see how it goes.

I don't know what driver issues there are, i've never encountered any.
But i agree that the system should allow for playable frame rates under low to medium settings.

I get 30 FPS on High and my PC isnt much better than yours (just a better graphics card and RAM, although I heard RAM doesnt matter). So you could even perhaps get 50-60 FPS on low. Good luck with the game.

You WILL be able to play, I have the same rig as yours and W2 runs without any problems.(Although you may need to set settings to low-medium)

I don't mind playing at low settings at all. And from what I've gathered, low settings still look pretty good. Still, gotta say, it sounds reassuring! Just ordered the game.

Of course there is a difference, but you need a loupe to see it
