Can I run this game with my specs?

So I've literally spent the last 2 days straight trying to install the game and, after an irrefutably ridiculous amount of troubleshooting and re-installations have gotten it and its latest patches to run. Problem now is that it's unplayably slow, even after adjusting all the visual settings as low as they'll go. I have to admit that I'm not much of a techie, so I'm not sure how to determine all the details of my PC's specs, but from what I can surmise it should be more than enough to play smoothly on minimal visual settings:

HP Pavilion 6700
AMD Phenom(tm) 9150e 4G quad-core ~1.8GHz
4096 MB RAM
Pheonix-AwardBIOS v.600PG
ATI Radeon HD4550
2297 MB memory
Windows 7 Ultmate 64-bit

I've got a fairly old monitor, so I'm not looking to play in an any super HD, but I'm aiming for about 720p. I'm prepared to bite the bullet and purchase a new graphics card or other driver if I must, but I have no idea what I should look for, and I was wondering what else could possibly be the issue for the unplayable 5-10 fps I'm experiencing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should be able to play it but at 72p I highly doubt it. Your cpu and gpu seem quite underpowered. If you were running Windows XP or something, I think you would get a few more fps but as it is, I don't think 720p is attainable.

Forgive my technological ineptitude here, but how exactly is my CPU underpowered then? I thought quad-cores were supposed to be respectable... is it the 1.8GHz or the 4G instead of 8G that's lacking?

That's the thing though; I've lowered the settings all the way as it is and it's still this unplayable.

Your video card is 4550M , so it is actually equavalent of HD4350 in a desktop..

I dont if 4350 is better than 3850 , which i probably dont think it is .. so you can't even meet the minimum requirements for this game .. sorry

Unfortunetly it tells nothing. Check your card with the GPU-Z. http://bit.ly/qqBMVe

Well, if you must know, it's not the worst possible quad core (that would be the Phenom 9x00's with the TLB bug), but it's close. It's well below the minimum clock speed, as well as being a generally inefficient processor that was quickly discontinued after the Phenom II's came out.

But the GPU is the immediate obstacle; and because you have a laptop, there's no realistic upgrade path. An M4550 is an 80-shader GPU clocked slower than the similar desktop 4350, 4550, and 5450, and those are known to be inadequate.

(The minimum-spec 3850 is an older but much faster 320-shader GPU. With AMD GPUs, the first digit is generation, and the second and third denote performance.)

In present state i would say no your cpu is well below the minimum spec
Minimum Requirements:

Processor: Core 2Duo 2.2 GHz or dual core AMD 2.5 GHz
RAM: 1GB Win XP/ 2GB Vista/7
Graphics: GeForce 8800 512MB or Radeon (HD3850 512 MB)
HDD Space: 16 GB

It may be possible to overclock your cpu to get the required clock but until we know what your card is...just can`t say

So then how exactly should I upgrade my system (graphics card, RAM, Memory, processor?) and what do you guys recommend in terms of products?

This is a desktop. I'm not really sure what much of what you said even means (sorry :/), and I have no idea how you guys came to the conclusion that I operate out of a laptop, but my dxdiag indicates that it's an HP Pavilion 6700. With that in mind, how would you guys recommend upgrading my system to be able to play TW2, and what products would you recommend are the best option for their price? Is it even worth pursuing or should I just abandon all hope and invest in a new computer altogether?

lol , when u said HP Pavilion etc. i assumed that it is a laptop model.. I never bought any non-custom PC and never heard of anyone did around me.. sorry for that.. :)

Okay a cpu and a gpu upgrade must be enough for it , but we must know how much money u re going to put for this upgrade thing... ?

I'm sorry. HP model numbers get confusing. There are many Pavilion "6700" models, a large number of which are laptops.

Anyway, the immediate need is an adequate graphics card. There are modern low-power graphics cards that are suitable replacements for a card like a 4550, that would not require a power supply upgrade. The HD 6670 is probably the best of these. It's definitely good enough for medium settings with a near-minimum CPU. The HD 5570 is as low as I'd go. That should be good enough for low settings, anyway, and I'm not sure your CPU is going to do better than low to medium.

Upgrading the CPU on a proprietary motherboard like the ones HP uses is a much riskier bet. At that point, you're better off replacing the whole thing.

ok that makes sense, thanks. So where exactly is my CPU lacking? what's the measurement that indicates that? If I can figure that out then I can know what I'm doing a little more when I consult some hardware pros to upgrade/replace my system. only have about $300 for now to spend (probably on a 6670 card, assuming my power supply and CPU can handle it).

1.8 GHz, and Phenom 9150e. First-generation Phenoms are slow to begin with. One that's clocked to just 1.8 GHz is very slow, comparable to a dual core Athlon 64x2 at 2.2 GHz, and that's slightly below the stated minimum for the game.

I wouldn't try upgrading the CPU, though. The 9150e is a special low-power CPU, and the motherboard may not take a higher-power model.

You should be able to get a satisfactory GPU for under $100 (US).

huh, that's unfortunate. It seems a bit counterintiutive to create a quadcore with a low-power CPU. So then if my CPU is underpowered, how come when I ran a performance monitor during gameplay it determined that not even half of my CPU was being tapped?
