Can I turn my disc copy into a steam copy?

hey, I have a Disc copy of both the witcher 1 & 2 but its kind of annoying to hold onto the disc copies of them with the product codes, is it possible to transfer them into steam copies? steams just a lot easier to work with and with the cloud saving its more convenient, I have my product codes still so I can prove I own them, just wondering if its possible.

Not Steam, but GOG copies. CD Projekt owns GOG and used this to authorize downloads from GOG to license holders. This was done to work around problems with downloading the (massive) Extended Edition patch. They did not make any such deal with Valve.

See http://www.gog.com/witcher/backup to get your downloadable GOG copy.

If you want the game on Steam, you must buy it on Steam.

Obviously GOG is the superior version but if you really want it on steam you could buy it on a steam sale.

For now there are no plans to include a backup copy for Witcher 3 .
From the GOG FAQ
Will I be able to redeem a backup copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com?

The backup program for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not planned any time soon, for sure not around release time. It was a one time action for The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. It might happen sometime in the future, but, currently, it's not in our plans.

Thanks for the reply, yeah i did not know it was a one time thing for TW1 and TW2 AoK, i hope there will be a backup available at some sometime, is there any speculation on when the System requirements will be available, check my Sig out and just give me a hint if i will be able to max out with decent FPS if you can and are allowed,

thanks tommy

I`m going to assume by late December or early January on the system requirements . I`m going to go out on a limb by saying that if you can max Witcher 2 then 3 shouldn`t pose a problem at all . Of course it will depend on how well the optimization process turns out .

Thanks for that bit of info, yeah that's a fair enough call
I haven't played the witcher 2(But i think i will now to get a feel for it) but i have played some of the very recent AAA games and gotten pretty good fps maxed out, so im hoping

i think they'll optimize it well, the few interviews I've see on you tube. they seem pretty involved in the community especially PC gamers
