Can TW3 live up to your expectations?

Just a random thought... I absolutely love TW2, it's tied for my favorite game of all time. I've got no pet peeves/desires/suggestions on what I'd like to see fixed. In my eyes, the game is on a pedestal all by itself in the RPG world of the last several years.

That being said, I'm obviously very much looking forward to the magical day TW3 comes out. That got me wondering... what are the chances CDPR makes enough changes to the TW2 formula in the next installment to actually bring down the amount of joy I'll get out of TW3. What are the chances TW3 actually lives up to my rather large expectations (even though I know nothing about it besides the fact that it's likely to be taking place in the South).

Do you think it'll live up to your expectations and hopes?

By my all previous experience with video games industry, sadly there is really low chance that tw3 will live up to our expectations. So yeah, im positively pessimistic about that. On the other hand cdpr is known for breaking industry rules so there is always a chance for decent continuation. (I still remember how i was soulcrushingly disappointed with gothic 3 after wonderful gothic 1 and 2 notr)

I have faith in CDPR, but I'm not stupid (or atleast I like to think I'm not.) I won't go into TW3 thinking it's going to be AWESOMEEEEEEEEE!!!! That would be foolish. I'll just go with the flow. I'll get excited of course, but I won't let the hype cause any mental hyperbole of the presumed quality.

I believe CDPR is very much able to make TW3 into a great game. The question being, will they be wiling to try?
One thing is certain, if prior to release, there will be talk about aiming the wider audience, making it more accesible (but still retaining the harcore side, blah, blah, blah) the game is going to be a total disappointment.

Depends abit on the direction they go... They might end up going more casual or they might try to make their game deeper and more complex.
Anyway i would rather have deeper and a more complex game with more ripple effects in the world and story
maybe a event based quest system (not going to happen)
improved combat system with smaller side step dodges
more types of attacks that hit more targets / harder / faster (kinda like TW1 but with TW2's system) ;)
More gameplay in time (length of the game)
no more doors... Good god all mighty stop closing the door at my face =(
QTE be gone thou plague upon gaming.
Less big dumb bosses or more ways to beat said bosses.
Remade potion system
Better "skill" system with more choices and more freedom.
More ways to use things... Like put something on fire with magic or bombs, make people trip and fall and so on.
Less corners cut at some areas when it come to the graphics
Better optimisation
In game options for graphics and stuff
Larger areas / world with some wildlife also (how can a village have hunters when 2 steps outside a village there are 23423947234 monsters?

Do i think they will even do 1 of these? Hmmm no... Not a chance... My main fear is that they will make it easier, dumber, more explosions (of corpses), 3 levers ending. And no im not trolling that is my main fear... =( A dev should come and tell me that everything will be okey and that they will never do what i fear =(

Hey guys, have some faith! CDPR is the company that bucked the DRM issue and still managed to make a brilliant game, twice. I don't EXPECT anything, but I'll certainly be surprised if their next offerings don't take the story and the level of play to new, exciting levels.

And assuming that CDPR did all these desires reality, you'd be satisfied or even would find anything else to improve?

Personally, while CPDR does not lose its own identity in the creation of TW3, I trust they will do their part to get the game they already have planned. Innovation is not having good ideas, it is to make them reality; In 2 years these desires of yours may already be outdated .. CDPR pleasantlly surprised me with TW2 after playing TW1 because I had no specials desires or illusions, just trusted CDPR. Oh! I lie... I had only one desire, return to find me with my Geralt. And that they gave me.

Heh, I'm already looking forward to the flood of angry posts exclaiming how CD Projekt sold out, dumbed down, streamlined, consolized, removed all roleplaying, and did I mention selling out? That's how your customers let you know that they did not enjoy your current product as much as the previous one.

There is no perfect game ;) There is always something that can be improved whenever its ai, gameplay, graphics, physics, im overall happy with TW2... But i do want to see improvements. I dont want them to follow the trend with the industry to dumb the game down or cut corners and so on. ;)

Problem is, that when you are fixing and improving things, you usually break other things, intentionally or unintentionally. Also im sure there are people in cdpr that are really fed up with witcher franchise, see Tom Gop.

Don't really have that much expectations for the game as of now. But when all the hints and sneak peeks starts coming around, I tend to gradually get more and more pumped up.

If there's one complaint I had against Witcher 2, it's the fact that it wasn't particularly optimized very well for older machines. I would hope that CDPR would spend more time getting Witcher 3 to run better and smoothly for people who don't have top-of-the-line hardware.

If you are asking what I'd like to see in TW3, I'd say - less bad influence from consoles from the start (TW2 had to go through enhancements / updates to improve the usability that slipped because of the consoles targeted builds, though in comparison to many other titles CDPR handled it reasonably well). Plus I expect the Linux version, since CDPR are working on OpenGL engine now. Will TW3 live up to that? Time will tell.

Most likely it will live up to my expectations if it is their game, made the way they want to make it, without any interference from armchair developers who say it has to have this or that technology, or this or that user interface feature, or from amateur critics who proclaim the dumbing down of the industry.

CDPR tells stories in game form. That's what they do best; if they tell a good story, they made a good game. Let them do their job, which is exactly that and neither more nor less.

I'll be buying it on day 1 no matter what they make just because I'm grateful enough for TW2 to buy anything they make (including Cyberpunk in which I have no interest). However, just reading parts of this post and a LOT of the post on people's desires for TW3 - I sure hope they completely ignore most suggestions. I disagree with way more suggestions than I agree with... I think a lot of "improvements" people suggest would actually make me enjoy the game less.

Oh well, time will tell.

I think so, because I really loved TW1, and then when TW2 came out, I was blown away at what they did with it. I have faith in CDPR.

As long they keep blazing their own trail and stick to their own game design philosophy - surely it will, as these are the only expectations I have.
