Yes, he is a fan favorite and we have all missed him in TW3.
10 years later, I am still heartbroken that Iorveth (and Saskia) did not make an apperance in TW3.
CDPR did Iorveth fans so so dirty. Not even a single piece of dialogue mentioning him in the entire game?
Saskia at least got a small mention from Philippa if you imported her save.
And no, that random dialogue you can overhear in a scoiatel camp that they clearly forgot to cut out does not count.
People (including me) have already asked for this on the forums but let's be realistic now.
What do we know?
- Well we know the game is going to be taking part in Kovir.
- After the events of TW2, Iorveth leaves Vergen according to the released comic and pretty much goes missing.
(If you did not side with Iorveth, he pretty much goes missing anyway at the end of TW2).
- Unlike Saskia, there is no way for the character to die at the end of TW2 so, he is alive and missing on both Iorveth and Roche paths.
That's good news.
Where is Iorveth?
So where is Iorveth?
I actually have a conspiracy theory which I have posted here years ago when TW3 first came out.
I think that the clue to his current whereabouts is hidden in one of the Gwent Cards in TW3.
That's not a random elf standing behind Francesca taking her orders, that's definitely Iorveth!
And it makes so much sense narrative-wise when you think about it.
After Vergen did not work out, him and Francesca have to now work together in order to secure a place for the elves in the world.
For the elves it's either Dol Blathanna or nothing now.
So I think, Iorveth is in Dol Blathanna working with Francesca trying to create independence from Nilfgaard.
Can he appear in TW4?
Since there is no way for the character to die at the end of TW2, yes he can. But does it make sense narratively?
Sadly, I'm afraid not.
Kovir is a long way north and if he's in Dol Blathanna trying to keep the place together post-war, why would he all of a sudden pop up in Kovir with a strong and justifiable narrative arc? Unfortunately it just does not make much sense to me.
What about a cameo?
Yes that would be possible. It can go something like this:
Francesca arrives to Kovir on a diplomatic mission trying to gain the king's support/money for Dol Blathanna's independence and Iorveth and his unit is going to be the head of her security.
There's going to be a small sidequest referencing the events of TW2 and foreshadowing a possible narrative arc taking place in Dol Blathanna sometime in the future. Whether as a DLC for TW4 or in TW5/TW6.
I would much rather see something like this than forcing him to a story set in Kovir where his presence is going to feel off unless the writers come up with something very solid.
Let me know what you guys think!
