Cannot progress past Act 2 Tower Cutscene

Hello there,

I've been playing The Witcher: EE on Steam and have been making good progress into the game.
When I got to the part of Act 2 where you open the tower and have to fight Javed and the Professor after entering it I was able to complete the fight (the characters fled) and then it shows a cutscene talking about battle between the Order and the Squirrels. After this I get a message saying my save game is corrupt.

I find this odd since I'm not loading a save game. I've used the Steam utility to ensure the integrity of the game files and that seems good.
What can I do to correct this issue? Or am I out of luck. I tried searching the forums but have been unable to find a similar problem.

Some System stats:
Windows 8.1
16gb RAM
Intel Core i7 2600K
nVidia GeForce 470 GPU

Have you tried loading an earlier save ? Sometimes that corrects certain events .

I did try that. I went back to before I placed the last Sephirot, and then before I defeated the golem. Both times the same thing happened.
I suppose I could pick up someone's save that takes place after that, but I'd rather just figure out how to fix what's going on with mine.

That one worked just fine . Dunno but it worked fine for me .
After the ifrit and if you want to try your save again then concentrate solely on Azar but try to stay out of reach of the professor . But if you like here is the save in Triss`s house I didn`t talk to her so ask her all the questions you want . Some quests are added automatically and nothing I could do about that .

So I've figured out what the issue was.
I was playing around with one of my save files and extracted it to the Data directory of the game files. Apparently this wrecks havoc with something. Once I removed the extracted files it seems to be working just fine now.

Well you`re the one who figured it out . But i`ll try to keep that solution under my hat so to speak .
