Can't do that while in combat

Scanned through a couple of pages but couldn't find anyone having the same issue. When in combat while attempting to block/parry/ dodge a message appears and says I cant do that while in combat. When said message appears I lose complete control over Geralt and it leaves him wide open to attacks "especially against wraiths which is making the bloody baron mission almost impossible to beat." I just want to know if anyone else is having the same problems or am I doing something weird here. I do tend to hold down the block key sometimes when fighting and even then the same message will randomly appear leaving Geralt open.

do you have enemy healf bars on or off? do you have, i think's it's boss focus or somehyting similar, on or off. pretty much all the gui diabled except of my health and mini map off and I get the can't do that messege all the time. I think, if boss focus or what ever it's called a long with not having the little icons above enemies heads makes it impossible to lock on to them and then you'll get the can't do that messege.

I do have enemy health on but I don't lock onto anyone when fighting more than 1 enemy. Trying to understand your message so are you saying I should turn everything off except my health and mini map?

Haven't seen it happen yet but i also turned off notifications so I'm going with this helped, but fuck those wraiths......

i get the messege all th time with everything but mini map and health off... but i assume that notifications is refering to the "you can't do that in combat", "the gaurds are annoyed at you", and the "don't steal that" messeges. My assumptions has always been that if the boss, enemy health, enemy level information is turned off you can no longer lock on to them and it's pretty easy to press the lock on button and that's what it's triggering the messege but i've not actually tested it.

Tried it a couple of times last night and it seemed a little better. Was playing with just mini map and my health on the hud. Going to try with notifications when I get out of work and see if the message keeps coming up.

Same problem just now no notifications or messages saying you can't do that in combat
