Can't import save files from GOTY to GOTY(different CD)

Hey Guys!

My friend give me the GOTY version for a couple months. I played it several hours. Then i had to give it back, because he wanted to paly it.
I bought GOTY version on cd too, but unfortunately i cannot import my saved files to it, despite it is the same version and edition that my friend gave me.
Do you guys have any ideas? I dont want to start over the game again.

What platform are you playing on ?

Are you sure that you had the GOTY version before, and not just the TW3 base game with both expansions?

GOTY version and normal vanilla version are treated like different games. So your save games might not work for both versions.
