Can't install? Disable antivirus, even if it doesn't seem to be needed!
Hi,
I just thought I would share this:
If you have problems installing, disable your anti virus even though that doesn't seem to be the problem!
I had problems installing The Witcher 2, Enhanced Edition 2.0 from DVD.
All I got was this error message right after selecting installation languange:
---------------------------------------------------------
Error Code: -5006 : 0x80070005
Error Information:
>SetupNew\setup.cpp (597)
PAPP:The Witcher 2
PVENDOR:CD Projekt Red (##ID_PRODUCT_URL##)
PGUID:E00FBF68-5168-49A3-BBCA-3D8C29E24D20
$17.0.717
@Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (7601)
IE Version: 9.0.8112.16421
---------------------------------------------------------
I googled the problem, but all I could find was suggestions to copy the DVD to the hard drive first and install from there. I tried creating a disk image using ImgBurn, but got the same problem still. So next I tried to just copy the files. Same error.
Both the disk image and file copying succeeded without errors so the problem was not the dvd drive.
Finally as a last resort I tried disabling my anti virus program (Comodo Internet Security) and that solved the problem! I believe the specific module that needed to be disabled was the Sandbox.
