Can't install on Windows 7 64-bit

I'm not sure where this post should go. Please feel free to move/merge if necessary.I'm a bit distraught as I had been told by several people that I should not have a problem installing TW1 on my laptop.I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I have tried running "setup.exe" in Compatibility Mode as Windows XP SP2 and SP3. I have "Run as Administrator" from the file's properties and I've explicitly set the privilege level in the compatibility tab to run as administrator. I checked every box (at the same time) in the Settings section of the compatibility tab as well. None of these options work. It keep behaving as though it thinks that it's a 16-bit application. And, even though I'm trying to run the file explicitly, it keeps telling me the file can't be found.

Hello again and yes your computer will run the witcher , no doubt in my mind about that .From where did you get your download as you may need to use their download manager to ensure you get a full and working download .

I downloaded TW1 (The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut) from Direct2Drive. I use Firefox to download my games. The game download is one huge zip file. I'm downloading using Firefox again in case it was corrupt the first time. If that doesn't work, I will try using their download manager.Edit: I realize there's always a first but, I've never had a problem with a Direct2Drive download before while using Firefox.

Looks like this is going to take a while. The second Firefox download had the same problem as the first. I am now downloading the game via the D2D download manager.UPDATE:OK. I figured out what is wrong. I've tried this twice to be sure. The zip file when downloaded via Firefox claims to be 9.6GB in size. File extraction yields a folder that is 5.93GB in size (123 items). Using the D2D basic download manager, the download folder is 9.64GB in size (124 items). After the folder was finished downloading, I manually ran setup.exe (Windows XP SP3 compatibility, admin access, all settings checked in the Compatibility tab). Can be run via the download manager but, I wanted to make sure that I could do it. Anyway, I'm not sure what is causing the file size discrepancies. And, I've also alerted D2D support to this issue.
