Cant understand all the negativity (PC)

I am playing the XBone version, cant afford or find a ps5 any time soon. I have had only 1 issue so far since starting the game. The game crashed once but I havent experienced any bugs. Maybe it comes later on in the game? GTA 5 has crashed on me once or twice and that game is amazing. I have no issues with this game and am quite enjoying it.

I'm having an absolute blast on PC! I know someone IRL with an Xbone who got it, and even they're reporting the game as running great for them, so I wonder if it isn't just PS4 having issues. To me it's incredible!

The game has some serious optimization and stability problems that need to get worked out. As far as PC is concerned, if you're lucky it runs decently. If you're not, it inexplicably doesn't. I've got a friend with a 980 Ti. which on paper benchmarks almost identical to my RTX 2060. Rest of his system specs are similar vintage or newer. Got the latest drivers from Nvidia that released same day as the game.

I can run on Ultra 1080p (no RT) and get ~60fps in many places, dipping into the 40s in busy streets. For some reason his GPU is constantly maxed out with everything on MINIMUM and he never sees higher than 20-30fps. Something is seriously and inexplicably FUBAR for a rig that is well above the minimum system requirements.

I am mostly disappointed because we were promised an RPG with deep mechanics and really we got an urban cyberpunk version of Far Cry with dialogue choices and a more interesting story. I also have surprisingly good performance so thats the least of my complaints. The game is just a lot more shallow than we were lead to believe by 2 years of aggressive marketing. Once i play through the story once i just know i wont have many reasons to go back and try out a different character, because there isnt that much i can do differently on a second playthrough. I cant affiliate with one gang vs the other because there is no reputation system. I can work for the cops no matter how many innocent people i murdered because there is no karma system. I am always the clean straight edge kid because, aside from some scripted moments, i cant really indulge in narcotics other than alcohol, and that is also just a pointless thing i can do in my inventory for a 30 second blur effect on my screen.
I dont care about bugs, those can be fixed. Its the very core of the game that was designed more for a mass audience than many of us expected.
I think when they started this project it was a labor of love for somebody at CDPR who spent his teens playing the tabletop RPG, but with 8 million preorders it changed into something bigger, and could no longer cater to what would have been a niche market. My biggest hope is for the modding community. They wont create quests in the same quality as the ones made by the devs but at least they can add some more interesting mechanics to the game. Unfortunately that means waiting another 2-5 years before I get to play the game i really want.
I still dont regret buying this game as i am having fun. As i progress further though, and the euphoria of the first 20 hours dwindles, it gets harder to fight the creeping feeling of disappointment.

Here's the thing; CDPR themselves set a certain expectation of what Cyberpunk 2077 would be like - what Night City would be like. Moreover, as gamers, we have certain expectations for what a $60 open-world RPG should be.

Cyberpunk 2077 falls completely flat on its face in a multitude of areas. It's barely even an RPG. The crafting is messed up, the clothing system is messed up, the cars are literally on rails, cops spawn directly behind you when you do something bad, enemy AI is poor, etc. The list goes on and on.

The game has a façade of complexity. Beneath the thin, shiny veneer that is the art direction and visual presentation of Night City itself, the game lacks any actual substance and depth. I don't denigrate anyone for enjoying this game but it is a far from a good game, let alone a good open-world RPG.

I am agree with that completely. I have a nice PC, and a game runs quite smoothly. Not a single crash for now, OK fps. The story, a dialogues and a characters are wonderful. The game still has some minor issues with mechanics, but i'm sure they will be improved in future expansions.

Can you name any open world RPG that is really worth the 60$ by your standards?

GTA all saga, Red read Redemption 2, Saints Row, Skyrim, Fallout, Yakuza, The Witcher 3, Soem Assasins creed... All have elemnets of Open world, need more?

Don't forget Fallout 3 and 4. Some guy posted a video above where he compared different aspects of Cyberpunk's open world with GTA V's. GTA V is a 7-year-old game. It released in 2013. And it is FAR more advanced in just about every single aspect. Now of course we shouldn't expect Cyberpunk to emulate GTA, but as an open world in a city setting they should share a lot in common like NPC interactions and such. And GTA V shows far more complexity and "realism" than Cyberpunk in these areas; it's not even close.

I am running the game with an rtx 2060 + i5 7500 + 8 GB RAM ddr4 + SSD and in the city i've got 30/40 fps...no matter what settings ...low=30/40 fps, med=30/40 fps, high=30/40 fps, ultra=30/40 fps

in the car i've got 20 fps

Hey I think you'll find the i5 7500 is holding it back, but hopefully that will be patched.

I say that because I'm running a i5 8600 and it's maxed out - even when there's nothing happening.

I'm getting stable 30 FPS out of a GTX 1060 6GB at 2K Res, but just like you, dropping all graphics settings to minimum does nothing to increase frame rate.

At least it's playable even if the frames are console-like...

This is because you can use DLSS on your 2000 series card which increases performance by 30%-70%. DLSS is not supported on GTX 900 cards. Your friend needs to lower the other settings to make up the performance difference, if he is indeed on minimum settings though there appears to be an issue with his hardware unless he's running at some absurd resolution or rocking multiple monitors.

I love Cyberpunk 2077 even with all the bugs i don't care i know they will be fixed sooner or later, but adding content is a different story.

I am not hating CP2077 at all, just like you i want it bigger, better and way more immersive.
Idk maybe i had high expectations maybe overhyped, but watching that 40 minute gameplay trailer back in 2018 i got so invested into this game and followed all the news and leaks. I definitely wanted to play as that beautiful female V and call escorts to my apartment for overnight sex. lol silly me.
Fast forward to 2020. Graphics was downgraded, cant make female V exact same as from trailer so i guess it was pre-renderd and heavily scripted after all,
but i am not angry about that. My biggest gripe is the absence of activities and entertainment in Night City.
Developers always praised and glorified Night City this Night City that, they even made theme song for Night city, but actually after playing its bare bones only filled with gangbanger camps and random loot. City feels barren and shut down for me

I am angry because i played games like FInal Fantasy, GTA, Yakuza, Sleeping Dogs, Assassin Creed, Witcher series and i know that even tiny minigames and interactions with world enhances the immersion and makes me play and love game even more.

I really hope and pray that developers will add a ton of stuff to base game.
interactable Arcade cabinets
more JOYTOYS and animations
open new casino and karaoke dance clubs
give table top games like checkers or GO or shogi
allow to romance more characters.

all these things and many more has been done in many games with weaker hardware and weaker technology.

I can just say, I am gaming since 3D Blocks and Commander Keen ... and Cyberpunk just stuns me.
It is great! Many thanks for this experience.

I love how the first person is integrated ... all the small things. Interaction with the surrounding feels natural.
Hacking is visualized in an awesome way.
Fighting feels like a RPG and not like a FPS, here I was worried before launch.
Graphics are just extremely good.
And the city is unbelievable dense, love it.

I don't see, where the harsh critic is coming from. The game has small bugs like bold heads in the mirror, when wearing a had and such things. But this is so minor ... Maybe some guys were over-hyped? Then lesson learned?

So ... I don't know if someone is reading this, but I am a count for the portion of happy customers.

Awesome game!

Regards

EDIT: I forgot, the implementation of story characters is also a highlight. They transport personality in a way, I have not experienced in a game before. I have to admit, I don't know GTA 5. But whoever say "Skyrim" or "Final Fantasy" ... these are not even close.

You're so right on this.

The game has rough patches, that's for sure. It lacks the polish other CDPR games lacked at release. I trust the studio to be able to pull it off though just as they did for all 3 Witchers.

But everytime I walk into an open market with the smokes and the neon lights and the crowd walking, drowning myself within the city, I just can't help but staying in awe in front of what CDPR have achieved here. The level of detail is stunning.
When the dialogs start playing during story missions... look at the unique animations of every NPC. As an example : I've seen one NPC during a story mission sitting on a chair nearby (and I was not supposed to look at her because she wasn't even talking to me) just moving a bit on the chair in a couple different ways to feel more at ease. I think probably 90% of players won't even see this, yet the animation and detail is here. This is stunning.

With the right amount of polish I have no doubt they'll put in, this game will be so far ahead of anything else in terms of immersion and design. I didn't want this game to be the next GTA, or to be the next Unreal Tournament or whatever. I wanted this game to be an immersive RPG just as it was supposed to be at first. That's probably why I find it to be so amazing.

This is the best world building I've ever seen, period. As a former player of Shadowrun (more than TT Cyberpunk) I just have all those memories of my TT experience flooding in whenever I walk the streets of Night City. I've already played 14+ hours and only done like 2 main story missions past the prologue. I just dive and soak in this wonderful universe. Doesn't mean I can't be constructive about what lacks in my opinion, and I've posted a few suggestions about food and transhumanism. But for each small issue I might have with the game, the game provides me with never-seen-before experience which keeps me on my toes every single moment I play.

Not really much complaining from me. The ray tracing looks very nice so I'm liking all the different areas and surfaces to check out.

the only 1 problem i see now is bugs, but i didnt complete this game yet, so maybe i will meet any more problems

I don't understand it either. People complain about a lot of bugs that I have never experienced (50+ hours of gameplay, main story completed).

I also see people complaining about very small things; like not being able to change there hairstyle, not being able to braindance and have a "sexy time" , not being able to have sex with specific females/not enough sex scenes (VR porn sounds like it would be there best friend) , or that gameplay is lacking (so much to do that it is overwhelming for me).

So to preface - I have no idea how this is running on consoles. I've heard bad things though (but also that 1.04 has made a big difference).

So to be clear, I am NOT talking about the console versions in this thread which I believe have their own issues.

But I must have hit the hardware jackpot with my config. I'm running the game at 1080p RTX Psyco settings with all other details on high + ultra and DLSS on quality and the game world is just amazing for me. It is so immersive and atmospheric. The only things I have turned off is Film Grain, Motion Blur and Chromatic Abberation. I also have cascading shadows on medium. But literally everything else is maxed out and I'm getting 60+ FPS. It slows to 40 when in third person in the middle of the city but thats all (I prefer driving first person anyway)

My spec:

i7-9700
RTX 2070 SUPER
16GB RAM
OS running on an XPG NVME
Game installed to a Samsung Evo 860 SSD

I've not really experienced any major bugs even, and I have 24 hours logged since launch (1.03, not tried 1.04 yet. Typing this in work). The main things for me have been floating items and being unable to pick up certain items on the floor. The two crashes I have had are just when I click to exit the game (odd one)

Im also really enjoying just being in the world. In the 24 hours I have logged I've only done one story mission past the prolouge and a handful of gigs and I'm just having an absolute blast.

I don't think many people are playing this game as it was intended. Stories of people beating the main story in 15-20 hours... When there are clearly hundreds of hours of content here. You're supposed to be living the life of V in night city. This isnt a bethesda game where each questline occurs in a vaccum.

There are definately issues with the game but they are things that can and I am sure will be fixed. The loot system isn't great, and I'd really like to be able to walk with mouse and keyboard. It would also be nice to change the characters appearance and for me, the inventory management UI really sucks for this type of game. Another issue is when in a car in first person, there seems to be a strange interaction between the sun and the glass in the windscreen, making the whole scene outside the car way too bright.

But overall, I just love this game and its only going to get better. I really am struggling to understand some of the threads and negativity on the /r/cyberpunkgame subreddit etc - but also bear in mind that there is an online mob of 'progressives' who simply hate this game and CDPR for not being 'woke' enough.

For me this game has delivered on most of its promises and I can see CDPR ending up delivering 120% of them in a few months.

So thank you CDPR for all your hard work on bringing this game to life, and dont let the review bombing on metacritic etc get you down. I think that was always going to happen to a degree with a game this hyped and also the far-left mob of internet activists who you will never satisfy anyway.
It's not that the game is bad, but people were expecting so much more based on all the hype, and CDPR unfortunately did NOTHING to calm the expectations/hype down, in the contrary, it encouraged it.
