Captive trader key bug, Claywitch trader

On the PS4, the trader that is held captive in the camp east of Oreton on the island at the bandit camp remains stuck in his cage as no key dropped from the bandits or from any of the containers in the camp. I have seen this bugged discussed on other forums all over the place, however I searched and didnt see it here. Sorry if it has been reported and I didnt find the right search string, never the less it makes it impossible to acquire all of the gwent cards in the game and makes one of the longest and most complicated trophies in the game impossible to get. Are games just becoming too complex for developers to actually release a finished product and still make a profit now? Is that what is happening these days?

I have all other gwent card but i cant buy rare card from claywich trader because i cant recuse him at Bandit Camp.... now i cant earn my platinum trophy because of this stupid glitch.. so sad.. CDPR PLS FIX THIS

The same thing has happened to me on that site. I killed the leader but does not give me the key, but in the previous game he dropped me the key. I also have in the inventory a key of cage in mission objects that I got it when I rescued other caged merchant but it doesn´t dissapear from the inventory when I freed him. Fix this problems

where exactly does this merchant stay? because I did free him, and the little village in claywith has plenty of peasants, but he is not there. any catch or am I looking in the wrong place?

I'm not sure is this the same merchant but I encountered one in Velen.
He was captured in a gage. There was a group of bandits around him, but they didn't drop a key.

No Key Dropped for Claywich Village Merchant Person in Distress

The camp is at an area marker called Bandit's Camp in Velen. I am trying to save the Claywich Village merchant so that I can buy his gwent cards, but for some odd reason, when I kill all the renegades and their leader, when I loot their bodies, there is no key to be found. A google search told me that many people have been having the same problem. Please fix this in a patch. It is frustrating...

So... i'm missing some cards and i had to search on the internet for some answers, i find out that there's supposed to be a trader in Claywich that you have to rescue in a cage, problem is that i found that cage like 50 hours of gameplay earlier and i couldn't open it because there was no key. Is this a known bug?

I have this problem too.
I killed the bandits, looted them - did not get any key - and thought, may be this could be quest related and so i decided to come back later.

Later is now since i can't receive gwent-cards from playing. The only cards i'm missing are those that could be bought from this guy...

But as there are multiple reports (searched only PS4) for this:

it seems to be a bug (that is still present on 1.04)

So i suggest that you prefix this topics title with [Bug?]...
And may be a mod can merge all this topics together?

Or did anyone find a solution for this? Could the camp be reset so we can kill and loot the bandits again? If the key is missed the first time, could it be found in a chest or at another location or are other bandits around that have this key or...

Apparently he sometimes not does make it to Claywhich if you do not escort. I'm still stuck with an un-openable cage myself so I cannot confirm this but others on gamefaqs have said that the merchant does not appear in Claywhich for them too. Also, sometimes the cage will not open for those who have dropped the key.

I didn't escorted him... He will be there after one or two days. Try to meditate.

I was having this problem too, but post patch 1.04, he has been removed from the cage and relocated to Claywich, without me releasing him.

I have checked this pretty soon after installing the patch... but may be i have to leave the map once? i'll check both if he's still in the cage or if someone new has arrived in claywich...

No, sadly nothing has changed.
The guy is still locked in the cage on the island. And in claywich there is a locked house and just a barber offering his services.

I saw you have posted this response in two threads. Did you have to do anything to get him to leave the cage? Did you travel to Skellige and back to Velen to make this happen? Mine is still locked in a cage so if you could elaborate that'd be awesome

I'm in this mess too... 1.04 hasn't fixed this for me either.
Please fix this! I want the platin trophy but without having to replay the entire game just because of a bug...

Every time I'd try it before 1.04, he'd still be in the cage and I couldn't find the key. I tried again the day of 1.04 and he was missing, and I found out where Claywich was yesterday, and he was there with the cards. LOL. Could be any of you're ideas, but I am almost done with the playthrough, so anything could have triggered it. I figured the devs did it as an easy way to fix the lack of key.

Dear CD Project Red and all other users,

Sadly the same problem exists for me.
My suggestion - maybe it's a helping idea - is to programm a condition in the next patch which would do following.

if the prisoner is still in the cage
if the necessary key is not in Geralts inventory
if the bandit leader is dead / not holding the key (I hope this buggy damn leader has an unique ID ^_^ )

Remove him from Bandit's Camp to Claywich.

I know you announced further more fixes than written in the "big thread", but maybe this idea helps.
