I'm more interested about what will happen to the game next. I don't care about DLCs and the next-gen upgrade, I do care about closer perspective like few months.
I mean I found it weird they (CDPR) didn't mention a cooperation with Mike Pondsmith or his support for branching the IP. Sounded a bit like they appropriated it now, specially when talking about other medias - netflix,... this after the close colaboration on the game. But as I said, this is a focused business meeting, it just so happens its public tooWell, it wold be very unprofessional from CDPR to show someone that is not part of the company to talk about.. the Future Plans of the Company hehe
And nha, they wold never in their lives cancel this Brand and Night City. They are not EA that can simply shut down a brand (countless times).
It took them years (7 years) to capitalize on CP Brand. And they now have 2.Two very lucrative bands (as the record for fastest selling game on PC demonstrates it.) And CP was a new IP... Yeah.. That was very huge what CP did.
CP will stick arround for many years, fear not.
What I fear is that we won't be able to play this game as intended until the end of 2022 lol oh well.
Yeah I perfectly understand why he wouldn't want to talk about the launch of the game as it happened/was receivedI've been interested by the lack of involvement from Mike Pondsmith since launch. On the other media thing I understood that Talsorian and Cyberpunk are still separate from CP2077 and that CDPR effectively have a concession for the 2077 brand, as in it isn't proper cannon.
Maybe he's not willing to come out in favour until its fixed? It's a bit different from Sapkowski who I understand was grateful for the exposure for his books but didn't get gaming, Mike is a gamer and has a strong reputation I guess well see more of him once cdpr have saved face?
Oh, I see what you mean I don't know, maybe he's afraid of being attacked by trolls if he speaks up. We'll see in the future, when the game heals from the current situation.I realise he's active, he seems to be pretty guarded about what he thinks of the game though. Happy to talk about the lore etc
But my problem with it, is that companies are not placing that extra money on better, new and you know.. Fun content. For us gammers to play. Its all more of the same. And everyone is doing the same.
Focus on brand, expand that brand, capitalize on it. On the brand. Not in the game. Notice how they explained this so well in this video, the importance of having a Brand.
But let's see, maybe things will change. After all, all i want is to play good games

Yeah I put it down to him being a true gentleman and probably knowing better than us how much people care and how hard they worked. Can't believe he wasn't a little gutted though. Maybe we'll get a reflective interview down the line..Oh, I see what you mean I don't know, maybe he's afraid of being attacked by trolls if he speaks up. This is nonsense. They're not 'different games'. They are, from a technical point of view, fundamentally the same game. The cars in Cyberpunk use the boat code from Witcher III; the rapid travel points are just the signposts, and work in exactly the same way. Although Cyberpunk makes more use of ranged weapons than Witcher III, the mechanics of how ranged weapons work is just the same. The only things that are new are the scenery and the plot. That's the whole problem: an engine to serve two complete different games. One is great, one is broken.
There is a wide range of reasons why the industry provides games that are such small incremental improvements. I doubt CDPR will escape these and break the mold so to speak but as long as they try, I can't fault them.
CP2077 certainly set out to do just that originally. Fell flat in many respects and managed to do it in others.
Believe me, I more than understand the importance of intellectual property. Professionally, in fact. Way back in December when the whole "they will/should drop CP2077 and move on" started I was already saying they wouldn't. The IP is far too valuable to drop because of a botched launch.
Sales records broken - with that launch?
The demand is there and it is strong. You do not drop such an IP. You invest in it and bring it to where it should be, forge it into a long running brand that will command recognition. They seem determined to get there. Whether they will or not is still up in the air but I think they have the talent to get there.
Ultimately, you have it right - we only want to play good games.
I doubt they've appropriated cyberpunk itself, R Talsorian Games is still trading without any reference to cdprMaybe they did appropriated it. I don't know what type of deal was made between CDPR and Mike and in what terms.
The close collaboration part before launch was well, marketing also. But now they have something of their own to showcase, the game. It is what it is.
As for this buisness meeting being made public and publicised before it even happened, well lol that was also marketing.
They needed to reach as much as possible and in a professional way. And that's what they did, and what needed to be done.
This was the right approach. To open up also, to small invenstors and above all, to gammers. There will not be much to invest if we do not buy. And that's where we are at now
1) Divide the staff for 2 separate teams to produce games for 2 titles at the same time: Witcher and Cyberpunk

I don't know either the deal, but Rtalsorian is focused in Cyberpunk RED ...I would say, that they put that 30 something years timeline difference so CDPR is able to have some freedom on lore/story of the franchise. The endings,if they don't do a full fan service trying to merge them, will allow them to cut ties with the "past"...depending on what they canonize actually you have a dark or even darker world in a sequel.I doubt they've appropriated cyberpunk itself, R Talsorian Games is still trading without any reference to cdpr
