@Marcin Momot: Do you have any idea what percentage of sales happens through retail disks distribution, vs digital distributors like GOG or Steam? I practically never buy disks already, so I really have no clue how much it's still used. On one hand digital distribution seems so much more convenient, on the other hand people with limited network bandwidth understandably can prefer buying a hard copy disk version.

I guess the big factor is the internet speed in each territory but there are exceptions and I believe that it all depends on people's preferences really. I, for example, have decent connection but I prefer physical boxes, simply because I feel like I paid for something (call me old-fashioned but digital download doesn't cut it for me;)). It also reminds me of childhood when I used to rush back home with the game in my hand, ripping off the packaging, smelling it. DD doesn't offer that;(

Its really an AMAZING feeling to get my hands on a game disc.Looking at the art , smelling it and just taking time to appreciate the fact that I got a new game.Love it particularly when its limited edition like a steel case or collector's edition ;)

Will DD be possible for TW3 though ? The game is rumored to be a 897 Terabytes download.

Well a GOG version of the game was confirmed, so yeah, I think they are doing digital downloads. Not to mention it will probably be on Steam.

Sure there can be more reasons to get a physical disk edition. But I was asking if there is at least some expectation from CDPR what percentage of sales happens in physical vs digital. Surely you might have some numbers from TW2 sales history. Is it 50% / 50% or heavily leaning into digital, or may be the opposite? Many small studios and developers do only digital distribution these days (for example Papers Please and etc.). So I wonder how much of a shift there is going on, with digital purchases growing and physical ones dropping. I never really saw statistics on this from gaming companies.

@Marcin Momot Is it possible that with the physical copy we will get the access to the DD just like with TW2?

Do you remember if GOG offered digital versions of TW1 and TW2 for those who have a physical one right when they came out, or only after some time?

I bought the game on the day of premiere and registered it on gog.com on Sep 2, 2012, so like year after, but I dont remember if it was possible to download it immediately after premiere;/

It wasn't. The offer came much later, after there had been a lot of patches. Also, the first retail versions of TW1 and TW2 had DRM that was a nuisance to get rid of later, and that won't be happening with TW3. And the Steam version had patching problems that, hopefully, they'll have learned from and resolved by the time TW3 comes out.

I don't know if the offer was made as a marketing thing to persuade people to set up GOG accounts, or as a support thing because of the patching problems, or a combination of both, but I wouldn't assume it will definitely happen with TW3. And I wouldn't expect it happen from the start, or be announced early, as it would encourage a lot of people to buy from someone else instead of GOG.

Just like some folks in the thread already stated, it came later.
