CD Projekt's Conference of Fall 2011 Breakdown.
I recorded most of the conference yesterday and made a video breaking it down, but I figured I would make a thread to list all the things they talked about. My video is at the bottom if you don't mind sitting through 20 mins of my commentary. I also missed a few things though I covered most of them.
The conference started with a PR guy from GOG talking about a number of things related to them, of note in regards to the Witcher in this part they talked about a special deal of the game since they are going to sell the game for a few days at 30 Dollars or Euros depending where you live.
CD Projekt RED part;
- Talked a lot about 2.0 and how awesome it's going to be.
- Talked about the Xbox version of the game and several nice things about it.
Xbox - Was at the end of the actual conference but thought I should get it out of the way first:
- New CGI intro 4 mins. Going to be added on PC once Xbox version goes live.
- New facial animations and camera angles during conversations that I saw but they didn't mention them
- Huge list of features out of which only 4 are unlocked so far: CGI + Everything 2.0 is giving PC players.
- Talking about how nice the game will look on Xbox, from the footage at the conference I do think it looks the same as medium and it did seem to run smoothly.
2.0 - Split in several parts here. Though Six key things are.
- Big thank you for the over 1 million Witcher 2 fans.
- Special offer of the game on GOG and Steam.
- 40 New Technical and Gameplay enhancements.
- Improving responsiveness and targeting.
- Showed new box of TW2 on PC with new and improved 2.0 on it, so I'm guessing retail versions will also get the patch on the default installation...well newly bought ones that is.
- As big or even bigger then the enhanced edition of the original witcher, or so they said.
Tutorial:
- A set piece from what I understood, though I am not certain. Apparently set in Kaedwen.
- New panel popups that pause the game and show you everything you need to know to do stuff. Only showed the most basic ones ( how to interact with people, how to move and how to make a healing potion )
- Story and Dialogue, Geralt helps a wounded Knight during the presentation and gets an invitation to the Arena.
- Only part of the tutorial was shown, not all of it.
Dark Mode:
- 3 new Item Sets ( meaning a full set has it's own steel and silver swords, armor, pants, boots and gloves ).
- Cursed Swords that make the world Darker when used and drain vitality if used without having the full set.
- Swords comparable in stats to current swords already in ACT III. I assume the set they showed was the ACT III one
- Side quests to acquire each of these items, and with 6 items per ACT...well that's 18 new quests.
- 3 New Minigames.
- Dark Mode almost as challenging as Insane but without losing your save games if you die.
- Dark Mode contest, said they will go into details on patch release.
Arena:
- New UI bits designed for it.
- 30 Waves and Werewolves.
- Armory where you can buy consumables ( Traps, Daggers and Bombs ).
- Items gained by picking a reward at the end of each wave.
- Mercenaries you can hire and use in battle with a health bar for them.
- Arm wrestling and dice available for those wishing to gain coin to buy consumables.
- New area set in Kaedwen.
- Time based score. The faster you do it the higher the score, though difficulty also matters in terms of score.
- Extra points of good kills ( finishers, throwing a guy with an Aard of the ledge ).
