Considering that E3 is a universal event, yet you chose only to promote the Xbox version of W3, I have to admit that I find it 'unusual' that only one version has been actively promoted at such a big event and in such case I find it quite probable, given the circumstances, that you have been pocketing hush money from MS, as it has been widely reported that others have also been doing.

MS tactics in this matter are underhanded and dishonest and I would be disappointed, to the point of ignoring any of their future products, in any company that would participate in such sneaky, slimey untakings, you included.

I hope this isn't the case.

Hello,

First of all I apologize in the name of our moderating team for making your topics invisible. We value our fans' opinions and we really appreciate when you guys share your concerns and feedback with us directly - without that, our work wouldn't make sense.

If you prefer PC or Playstation 4 over Xbox One, The Witcher 3 will also be released on those systems, so there will be various options to choose from. I can assure you that here at CD Projekt RED we are all gamers and when making a game, we treat all devices equally - there's no favourism. We just want to deliver the best experience possible. Hope this clears things up a bit.

I don't think CDPR should bother answering this post, but thanks Marcin. This speaks highly of you Reds.

As much as I personally dislike Xbox, their event is a fantastic window to expose The Witcher to a massive audience, that may or may not have played the previous games.

I'm sure the time will come, sooner rather than later, when CDPR will refer to the specifics of our highly anticipated PC version. But for the meantime I'm more than happy to see a trailer, any trailer :)

As much as I don't care for Microsoft's console I'm not stupid enough to want CDPR to not get some exposure. Whats the problem here? That CDPR is multifplatform? We already know Witcher 3 is coming to the PC and PS4 also so I don't see why anyone should care that CDPR showed the game at Microsoft's Conference it doesn't change anything.

Calm down kiddies, think logically and not emotionally.
All that was shown was a 'gameplay' trailer. It didn't actually show gameplay like you would play it per say, to get the best audience you need to pick one conference to show at. Logically it should be Microsoft or Sony because they both get a conference with a large amount of views.
One method of picking might be to ask for the highest bidding which is a fabulous way to do it because that means they get money for their trailer that can be put further to development. Alternatively you can think about which stream will have the most viewers and which stream will get the most coverage, naturally Microsoft will get the most coverage because it is the first stream, so your news gets out first and isn't hidden among the million other games, although this is only for an hour or two before other games begin to be announced.
Another alternative way to think of it is that Witcher 3 has already been announced for PS4, and PC. So why not go with Microsoft as a way to confirm that its coming out on xbox One?

Calm down kiddies the game isn't selling out to xbox or anything like that, its just marketing which is a very important part of E3.

So if Microsoft paid CDPR for exclusive bragging rights it just leaves me with one question for the developers, can you lend us £20?

Okey, let's start here.
I get the OP can consider Microsoft as a rotten, corrupted company that simply gets worse and worse over the years.
Personally, I dislike Microsoft and what they are doing ( Xbox live Gold, all the fuss about Xbox Done ), and hell, I even feel a little bit dirty using Windows 7 ( well, at least it's not vista or 8 ).
However...

That's a bit extreme OP. Like it or not, Microsoft a company attached to videogames, mostly because of their console, and again, like it or not, some people that apparently do not care about their stunts of simply like Microsoft ( for unknown reasons for me ) will buy Xbox One.

What does it have to do with your post, you may ask OP...
Well, I fear that Your hatred, that is understandable, gets out of control and clouds your judgment.
While the phrase "Innocent until proven guilty" doesn't fully apply to the internet and community interactions, you have basically, totally zero evidence to support you claim that CDPR was taking any money from MS. There is no evidence, not even whispers or rumours.
Just nothing.

And CDPR saying "NO!" for extra buzz from MS E3 conference would be just damn stupid.

Plus, it's a great way to announce that TW3 is also gonna be available for the Xbox One while showing new footage. Two stones with one bird.

This was an microsoft conference and E3 itself has not even kicked off, the press event with an extended demo is upcoming, CDPR has announced the game for ps4+pc earlier, now it is the Xbox' turn bc it was an MS event. I don't get the OP and see that as flamebait having us discuss boring game console developer business that - as CDPR has proven over the course of 2 games - has no influence whatsoever on the game itself.
If TW3 would have been an XBOX exclusive (leaving out the ps4), THAT would be a discussion-worthy move.

It doesn't really clarify it for users of other PC platforms. What about Linux and Mac OSX? Are those even considered for future releases, or CDPR didn't decide on that yet? Given that Red Engine already was ported to OpenGL 3 (in TW2) and that Linux and PS 4 have OpenGL 4 available (and OpenGL 4 is also coming to the new Mac OSX Mavericks) it would be great to see The Witcher 3 using OpenGL 4 on all these platforms.

Linux and Mac OSX users will be especially left out if you don't release dedicated ports, since DirectX 11 won't be available in Wine in foreseeable future. So Windows version of TW3 will not be usable there.

What I am trying to figure out, why OP uses the term "hush money"? What do you think CDPR is not supposed to tell? :)

TW3 being featured at the MS events can mean many things... it could be MS thought about how TW2 was legendary in its hardware requirements for PC, and showing TW3 running smoothly in their new console would make some sort of statement as to the capabilities of their new console.

Then of course, CPDR gets exposure to the xbox fans who will look at TW3, and will probably think "hey, that's the game that says it's better than Skyrim" and wow them with the graphics/animations alone.

So I don't think there's anything sinister going on here...

.. and if CDPR got some cash in the process, good for them. Hopefully they'll use the cash to make a proper PC GUI :)

More likely it was a contract they signed, where CDPR had to develop for Microsoft's gimmicks and give priority to initial release times. I seriously doubt it will affect anything beyond that. And if the OP wants to rag on CDPR for this, then he might as well rag on evey other dev out there because no one is going to turn MS down.

I didn't want to use this bad thread for a legitimate issue, but you are absolutely right. The Witcher 3 is advertised as a multiplatform game, and the PC encompasses at least three major operating systems. So what about the non-Windows PC platform?

LOL, I am not too happy about Xbox getting TW3 either, but on the other hand, I am happy that CDPR gets more publicity, which means more sales and more great games. Guess the latter factor overpowers the former and rapes it in the ass.

And also I am sure CDPR will keep its promise of a DRM-free version of TW3 on GOG, so why be an idiot and boycott the game altogether and not just buy this version instead? Some people are just too extreme I think!

The OP was harsh in accusing CDPR in some monetary interest with giving MS some special treatment on Xbox. While such accusations are pointless, there is an obvious problem, that CDPR are focused on Windows only on PC. With Witcher 1 and 2 they showed interest to go beyond Windows on PC. Though they didn't get to Linux with that effort, they got to Mac OSX. In Witcher 1 with Wine wrapper, and in Witcher 2 with native Mac OSX OpenGL based build. Strangely, so far they were very silent and didn't voice any interest to continue, let alone to expand this trend. That's a more troubling concern than speculations about giving Xbox exclusive attention.

All I've got to say is: You can't have 100% DRM-free gaming in an OS full of DRM. There is a chance for TW3 to be played fully free of DRM. Make it happen!

Edit: I just thought about this great advertisement campaign. The Witcher 3 --on Xbox Dh'oinne!

dragonbird: That was directed more to the CDPR. Since MM360 was kind to respond to the original poster, and said that CDPR aren't giving Xbox any exclusive treatment since "when making a game, we treat all devices equally - there's no favourism." And he also said they are interested in opinions/feedback. So I asked in that context, why then it seems there is favoritism for Windows on PC with Witcher 3, while there wasn't one with previous versions.

If you feel like this deserves a separate thread - I can make one and will repeat this question there.

I'm surprised that CDPR actually responded, and apologized, considering the OP's tone!

It's exactly their response to the thread that makes me love this forum. Such a different feel as compared to a particular RPG developer's fascist social network.

I know for sure I'll be supporting CDPR as much as I can.
