Oh I wish I had photoshop sometimes.

That was funny, it actually caught me by surprise and made me laugh. :)

It was very enlightening.

Okay, someone in another forum posted, that some retailers are already sending out Enhanced Edition PC copys and he managed to get his already. He posted screenshots and: No, the lighting hasn't changed on PC.

Aww, that's disappointing.

Some times both versions actually look good, but very different. ;)

In summary I prefer the PC version of course. :)

I think some of the lighting enhancements would be nice for the PC version but overall I like the ambiance set by the PC version.

I really don't think its new lighting just worse lighting. It looks that way because of concessions made for the 360 hardware. If you want your Witcher 2 game to look that way turn the settings for shadow quality and number of shadowed lights to low and turn bloom off, that's essentially how it looks on 360. The reason that I think some people seem to think the 360 version looks "better" is because its a new look for the game and it just not what they're used to.

Also the article you have a link to basically says the PC graphics are better in every way and the comparison video proves it. The 360 version just looks vanilla, a very tasty vanilla but no where near the candy and nut coated goodness of the PC version. num num num

Oh well, I guess we're stuck with thermonuclear bloom :(

Then why you don't turn off HDR/bloom effects? You will get X360 feeling.

That's not a real solution, is it? I do want bloom, just used more reasonably.

You want to get xbox lighting on your pc game? Remove all effects from the launcher options, then increase the gamma and brightness in-game... that way, the PC game will look as washed out as the xbox version.

From what I have heard about past games, the Xbox has some specification that can give it a special lighting effect. Battlefield 3 specifically, used different lighting on the 360 then the PC and PS3. Obviously the PC overall looks better, but I do prefer the Xbox lighting in these screen shots. It really is just a matter of opinion really.

You can get exact same thing that is in X360 by changing video options. You wanted x360 look so I don't see a problem here. Some people like heavy bloom - they can have it, you like light bloom - you can have it too.

The lighting looks real dumbed down on the 360. I.E. The screen with Bolton of Ironford, doesn't look as "powerful" as on the PC version. o.o But, thats just my opinion.

Yet if we look at the other screen comparison, it's exactly the other way around. That scene in that wooden tower construct, it looks much better and much more powerful with the new Enhanced Edition lighting that we see in the X360 screenshot.

I think the PC version looks way, way better. The lighting looks very realistic.

Perhaps the most dramatic difference between the older Witcher 2 on PC and the Enhanced Edition on 360 is that lighting has been radically overhauled, looking much more natural on the console. PC owners don't lose out though - all the work carried out on the console version is being rolled back into the original game.

As said in the same article, so yes, it will be on the PC EE too!

Look at the improvement on the Time of Day effects, it's simply amazing, and since we're playing on a PC, we won't get those rough particle effect, jagged shadows and almost 2-dimensional trees (in both of those pictures).

This is my favourite comparison, the contrast looks so much better as a result of the darker shadows combined with bright sun rays.

The eurogamer guy probably just thinks those lighting changes will be in PC EE, but it is most likely they will not.

It is a bit of shame. It would be nice to see patch that would add the possibility of new lighting.

Sometimes I feel it would be great if developers would come out and speak the truth, thus saving us from needless, fanboyish discussions like these.

We all know bloom is not properly done in the PC version. It makes characters and objects look unnatural, like they have a headlight pointed at their face all the time. I can't imagine why anyone would want to use it.

The same applies for ubersampling, too.

And the honest truth is that the PC version suffered from bad color calibration all the way through. I just wish CD Projekt would actually admit it.

360 version is bound to have a more reasonable bloom effect (if it has any at all) and many of the badly calibrated texture reflections and over saturated colors of the PC version will be absent, mainly because of technical limitations. It's only logical as a result that the game would look more natural, a lot darker and more earthly.

.. And the bad news is that everything else looks like pigeon crap in comparison.

Anyway, it's not nowhere near the 'superior' (you won't have 'god rays', one of the most atmospheric stuff in the game), but different, more realistic approach. I sincerely hope that they tweaked it in the PC version, as well..

Wrong.
PC lighting has been redesigned in certain areas and improved, but basically they're the same. Xbox has been changed mostly due to the different performance and machine and so on.

Those pics you linked are both from the EE final version, PC and Xbox. But maybe we can see ourselvs with our eyes, since it's coming on..... OMG! Tuesday!!!

I wonder, does the Eurogamer "analysis" ever talked about the over saturation and badly optimized post processing effects of the original W2, or did they slip under their radar?

Those PC pics are not from the EE version, they are from vanila (all of the PC pics in the tech analysis article are from vanila version of the game)
