Because Scatter DOF is specifically made to create a special, cinematic depth of field during certain cinematic scenes. CDPR explains it in the readme. Basically, cinematic scenes (such as fist-fighting, cutscenes when fighting the kayran), add another, highly advanced graphics filter to enhance the DOF effect; it is a very demanding effect, and that's why the FPS drops during these scenes.CalinRO said:I tried with v-sync disabled, same effect, only disabling scatter dof, fixed my issue. But, i don't understand, how much can a scatter dof increase a gpu load, to get down from solid 60 to 45, only in fist fights, and some other similar stuff in the game. I mean, if i disable that one, play the fist fight and re-enabled it, i didn't saw any difference in quality, so what is the purpose of that filter there.
You can check out some comparison shots in the tweak guide, here (it's good old Tweakguides.com, but it's hosted on Nvidia)."Cinematic depth of field [Scatter DOF in the .ini]: provides movie-like depth of field in cutscenes and dialogue sequences. Extremely detailed but demands significant power. Should only be enabled on machines equipped with top-end graphics cards."
"Cinematic Depth of Field
Depth of Field (DoF) has been covered under the Depth of Field - Gameplay setting earlier in this guide. The Cinematic Depth of Field option applies an enhanced form of DoF designed to make cutscenes and dialog scenes look much more like a stylised movie and less like regular in-game animation. Because of the additional GPU processing involved, this effect reduces performance when it is used and is one of the reasons why many people experience slowdowns in cutscenes. See further below for screenshot comparisons."
Sorry for little OFFTopic, but, is there any comparision between Cine DOF ON vs. Cine DOF OFF?CalinRO said:Yeah i forgot about the geforce witcher 2 tweak, i forgot that cinematic dof is decreasing the fps.
In the Tweakguides link I included in my last post: Link. Just use the drop down menu and jump directly to the 'SSAO, Motion Blur & More Depth of Field' section, and you'll find both comments and comparison shots.thantor said:Sorry for little OFFTopic, but, is there any comparision between Cine DOF ON vs. Cine DOF OFF?
