I have an i7 3770k which is quite ancient by today's standards but what I've noticed from my friends who has an 8thgen and 9thgen CPU as well, is that we have a common problem. THE GAME MAXES OUT OUR CPU CORES no matter the settings! RYZEN users are reporting the opposite, the game HATES their CPUS and is barely utilizing them! something is broken even if the game is installed on an SSD!

Here are the links of multiple reports that I've gathered:

https://linustechtips.com/topic/1279643-cyberpunk-horribly-low-fps-3080/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/kbp0np
https://whatifgaming.com/how-to-fix-the-cyberpunk-2077-amd-cpu-usage-issue-on-pc/

Here is the game running on my PC:

the game is maxing out my CPU easily and is causing issues with GPU usage.

Yong Yea said they are going on vacation so no fix until January/February. :giggle:

I installed the AMD CPU fix mod and I set my texture filtering to high performance so I should be all set.

I admit I'd rather play the game the way it is than to wait another two months. So I can't fault them, I love it despite it's flaws.

Is it a joke? What do I need to do to play the game properly? I have not spent 15k PLN (4k bucks) for a PC gaming rig to play in around 35 fps :D
BTW. I live very close to CDR HQ (7-8 minutes by car) so I can voluntarily bring my gaming rig for analysis of the problem, but for god sake solve the f*ing problem so we can enjoy the game ...

I have a i9-7900x 10core/20threads I never have more then 50 percent use on my cpu at most in Cyberpunk. I'm not having issues with it maxed out. I do have 100 percent gpu use and never had the issue where the card was not being used.
Post automatically merged: Dec 19, 2020

The Windows game bar performance meter is a bit misleading. Its showing me at most 50 percent usage... but I'm watching on my other two monitors and watching monitoring software that's showing at most 30 to 40 percent total load.. I had one thread once spike to 100 percent use... I think when the game was loading.. otherwise its averaging between 30 to 45 with some spikes on single threads here and there around 50 percent. For those on pc load up hardware manager or download it if you don't have it and take a look there. I'm running most things at high at 1440p on a 1080ti Fe card. Game is on a m.2 ssd and 64 gb ram.

I'm still trying to reach CDPR devs or tech but no reply. Many are also reporting this issue. I hope to god this is not a game engine issue.

PCMR Group on FB are reporting now that most AMD CPUS are getting 100% CPU usage... that's actually horrible. I have no idea who the wiseguys were who wanted 100%cpu usage... YOU DO NOT WANT 100% CPU USAGE as much as possible you want 100% GPU USAGE not CPU USAGE! WTF

What the hell are you guys using in your builds? my 3600 only goes to 60%. The new patch has got my fps back to 1.03 which was like 10fps higher than 1.04.

Answering your question, these are the details of my gaming rig

I know you can make a better build, but i7 10700k, decent motherboard with 8+2 power stages, AIO cpu water cooling with 3 cooling fans, palit gaming pro OC rtx 3080, 16gb of ram, 750w power supply and nvme with around 3.5 GB/s is not a gargabe build. I have G-Sync compatible display.
I have fresh windows 10 install, 1 month old, this is not my main PC, it's only for gaming and watching blueray movies, I only have few steam games installed, some epic games, and powerdvd for watching movies. Nothing fancy. If the game is really so CPU hungry then please tell what settings do I have to lower? I made crowd density set to LOW, actually I made everything set to low and on all resolutions I cannot get decent FPS. With most settings to LOW and 1080p while driving fast through the city I have drops to 23 FPS and CPU constantly around 100%. And yes I checked with other tools measuring the cpu load and on all cores I have around 100%. If the the game is so demanding then please introduce some settings so I can make the city completely empty so I can play in fixed 60 fps.
In my humble opinion there is something in my setup for instance windows security fix, my bitdefender security software, or a combination of intel drivers, nvidia drivers plus something else, that triggers such game behaviour. At the moment it's unplayable for me.
PS. I checked on 1.05 and still same problem.

Mine is a full AMD build i made at the start of the year 3600 5700xt 16Gb ram and running the game from NVME. All measures should be worse than yours but I'm, with the latest patch, at 55-60FPS 1440p high settings 99%ish GPU 60%ish cpu. I've seen the same problems you reported with the same chips I have. I'm wonder if the fact that I'm running all core oc is what's helping (ie current engine build makes the PBO etc boost behaviors go wack).

Funny :) but good for you, at least you can enjoy the game. I have just checked with G-Sync switched off and bitdefender security software completely switched off and same results - poor fps on all settings. I do not want to spoil my time with this game so I'll wait for a proper fix - hopefully christmas 2021 it'll be playable :D

So it's a major problem, I have seen some suggestions that my problems might be related to RTX 3080, but if you experience same on 2080 than that is simply not the case. In all other titles I have for instance Forza Horizon 4 or Doom Eternal it's a joy to play with sky rocket number of FPS.

I have the exact same setup and run 1440p ultra with DLSS quality and get 60 to 80 FPS, is your CPU overclocked? Mine has a 4.8 GHz all core overclock.

No, mine CPU isn`t overclocked but my friends have weaker CPU`s without OC and they can play without drops. I really don`t know what`s going on here. Other games works perfect.
