They stated this at one point. I'm just wondering if this is the case, or if it's another piece of cut content. Also wondering: could it be that this possibility simply hasn't been found out yet because it is so hard to achieve?
Can't find the interview, but it was said by the devs, yes. Withough elaboration, though. Just in passing. You got a source for that? Not that I don't believe it, but, how can you finish a game without completing the game?
Just google it you'll find multiple sources. Here's one hereYou got a source for that? Not that I don't believe it, but, how can you finish a game without completing the game?
LOL I was thinking the same thing, my story ended trying to climb the ladder near the twins and yeeting myself off the edge! You can finish the game without finish the main quest, but not without doing it as far as I know
you only need to shoot yourself in the head

I'm currently doing it on a second save. I'll let you know if I ever finish it.Nice find, cheers!
I have no idea if this is still a thing or not, will be interested if anyone has done this!
So far I haven't found a side mission that actually changes anything, though. His quote:
"Those subplots allow us to do something that we have never done before – they change the main plot of the game. And they are doing that in such a way that you may not even finish the main plot, but still finish the game and get a completely different epilogue than the player with a different lifepath who made different choices, met different characters and formed relationships with them."
Nothing he said is technically false.
Came here to say this lolYou can finish the game without finish the main quest, but not without doing it as far as I know

Depending on your choices in several side quests (nomads, Johnny, Rogue, Judy, etc.) you can choose from 4 different "main" endings. Or you choose the 5th one and put a bullet in your head, don't actually finish the main plot and get a totally different outcome. So far I haven't found a side mission that actually changes anything, though.
Technically they do, you cannot make the nomad aid final mission if you don't do panam side quest arch and you can't do Johnny/rogue final mission or solo Johnny final mission if you don't end Johnny's "loyalty" missionsSo far I haven't found a side mission that actually changes anything, though.
The main side missions unlock alternate endings. Secret ending depends on dialogue and side missions. Some decisions have impact on dialogue. All the 'change' is nothing like what people imagined when hearing 'branching story' though. It's superficial branching most of the time.So far I haven't found a side mission that actually changes anything, though.
I should have made it more clear what I meant. I know about those missions, but they do require you to actually play the main mission. The main side missions unlock alternate endings. Technically, there is change. Just not organic change in the game-world that flows with the story. More like:
"You have done mission X, variable Y has been set from 0 to 1, giving you access to Z."
Yes, they do. That's also what the developer said in the interview you linked in this thread.I should have made it more clear what I meant. I know about those missions, but they do require you to actually play the main mission.
