We also have polar bears roaming the streets. That's the main reason for piracy, actually. People don't buy digital since they don't have credit cards, and they're are afraid to go to the retail stores in fear of bears.Reod said:Probably lack of credit card - biggest reason that in poland retail are main game source for polish players.
You have streets?Kodaemon said:We also have polar bears roaming the streets.
Very obviously a jab at Valve for Steam being one of the more annoying DRM implementations for some people (including me).gregski said:I wonder what's that Valve reference...![]()
So that's like a typical bar in Poland these days?gregski said:The previous ad with the DRM Knight:

Definitely notJackintheGreen said:So that's like a typical bar in Poland these days?
Interesting. Just straight vodka shots?gregski said:Me neither
But yeah, as Kodaemon said, it's pointing at Valve being against DRM and being DRM at the same time. But I was just surprised that it was done so openly.
Definitely not
The newest fashion in Polish bars is something like this:
![]()
It's a bar serving mainly vodka in shots (there have wine and beer I think but hardly anyone drinks it in these bars) and some traditional Polish appetizers and postsnacks. There are no tables or chairs, you just stand there and drink with other people. This particular place at the photo is so packed on weekends that the party also spreads to the street. It's fun, especially when people are squeezed there like sardines, taking vodka shots with complete strangers sometimes![]()
It gets you drunk faster...volsung84 said:Interesting. Just straight vodka shots?
I remember drinking vodka straight from the bottle before a winter night walk, but other than that I honestly don't find it that appetizing to drink in shots. Is there any polish secret I should know or something?
It has to be freezing cold, like you have oil on the bottle, then it goes down much better. Plus, you usually eat a postsnack to ease the painvolsung84 said:Interesting. Just straight vodka shots?

No, we just have a different culture of drinking.volsung84 said:It gets you drunk faster...![]()
I'll have to keep a vodka bottle in the freezer and give it a try!gregski said:It has to be freezing cold, like you have oil on the bottle, then it goes down much better. Like a traditional face-on-the-floor kind of thing? Just kiddinggregski said:No, we just have a different culture of drinking.
Yeah, let it sit there for a few days.volsung84 said:I'll have to keep a vodka bottle in the freezer and give it a try!
It depends on where you reside, but of course Polish vodka would be the righteous choice, they should be available worldwidevolsung84 said:Any special brand you recommend?
I said drinking, not what happens afterwards, which probably is the same worldwidevolsung84 said:Like a traditional face-on-the-floor kind of thing? Just kidding![]()
A quick search found a local store with Belvedere and Grasovka. What do you think of that last one?gregski said:It depends on where you reside, but of course Polish vodka would be the righteous choice, they should be available worldwideFor example Chopin, Belvedere, Wyborowa, Luksusowa.
Oh yeah, that!gregski said:Well tuesday just got a lot more bloody interesting.
Not that my opinion matters much as I am neither Polish nor a great vodka drinker, but if you want a decent potato vodka at a good price, Luksusowa is nice if you can find it. It's not that Belvedere (rye) and Chopin (potato) are bad, but they are much more expensive where I live...as in more than double the price per bottle. It's true that my unrefined palate isn't really cut out for top quality...anything, really...but Luksusowa gives me a nice drink that is neither tasteless nor diesel fuel--well, not officiallyvolsung84 said:A quick search found a local store with Belvedere and Grasovka. I confirm, Luksusowa is a fine, solid brand!kyogen said:Not that my opinion matters much as I am neither Polish nor a great vodka drinker, but if you want a decent potato vodka at a good price, Luksusowa is nice if you can find it.
Belvedere will be good.kyogen said:A quick search found a local store with Belvedere and Grasovka. What do you think of that last one?
