Censored Content?

I was just wondering, given what happened with the first game, if some of the in-game content like the sex, violence level or language, will be altered or censored for specific markets or if it is going to uniform across the entire world?

I want to know this as well, in fact, I was just about to post and ask the same question.I grew up in Europe but now live in the US, and I actually imported the first Witcher game from a UK-based web store to get around the censorship forced on the poor game in the US. I'm all set to place my pre-order, but for obvious reasons I want to know if I can get it in my local store on release day, or if I should just go with the UK sellers again.

To the best of my knowledge, the publishers are the ones who decide that, not the developers. So I think they won't know for awhile yet what the publishers in various countries will require.BUT, you can get a digital version of the game at GOG.com. They haven't said so, but since this version comes directly from CDPR, I'm assuming that it won't be censored, even if the publishers in some countries require that the boxed versions be censored in their countries.

I saw that when I did my daily GOG.com pit stop to look for announcements and good games (I love that place! They gave me Planescape:Torment, and I will never be angry at them for anything ever again.), but I really want to have a physical copy, with coins and cards and the whole deal. I'm a hopeless sucker for trinkets. :)

Going to have to hold on pre-ordering until we know exactly what is going on.Normally, would be all over a pre-order at steam, but don't want to get stuck with a dodgy American censored version.*waits patiently*

Ah. Well, if you want trinkets, the Collector's Edition is definitely made with you in mind! :) The CE for TW2 reminds me of some of the old Infocom games, which came with newspapers and secret decoder rings and all kinds of stuff. It's cool, because Sapkowski's world is a medieval world with a modern feel, and The Witcher 2 is a modern game that gives the players classic fan service items -- both are a fascinating blend of new and old.

I know! I'm the target market, and I take pride in that :)I really hope that someone who knows will see this thread though. When The Witcher came out, I went through the trouble of importing it from a UK online vendor so I wouldn't have to deal with the lame-loser censored US version. I really want get the sequel the way the developer envisioned it. I've read the books. I don't want it "toned down", that would ruin everything.

There are a lot of opinions and variations on what is adult and mature but i know that if you preorder from GoG and a couple of other digital downloads sites you will get the game uncensored and DRM freeAs far as hard copies of the game in the U.S. i don`t know about that but im assuming that while it carries the 18+ rating it should be uncensored but who knows what the prudes have in store

Then you should definitely watch Dexter. I don't worry much about censorship provided that the anti-censor patch released with the actual release of the game at 17th of May.

"W2 from gog.com will be same as all other" meaning there won't be censored version's of a game only one.

So, there will be no Regional Market Content Difference between UK and the US? Like the original?I want to pre-order, but I want to get the game as the developers originally intended. I was so glad to find a UK Copy of the original! Thanks to everyone who made the Witcher and I am looking forward to Witcher 2.

No regional difference much likely means both versions will be censored, actually, which is not good at all.

Same here... I imported a copy from the UK to where I live in the US, so I'd get the full version. If there are no regional differences, I'm happy, happy, since that means I can get ti quicker and get the full Collectors' Edition with all the trinkets! :)

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/09/13/the-witcher-2-covers-up/Just as I thought, the game is already been censored to appease few idiot critics. =)

Yeah, there were/are threads about the censorship too.Personally I think that the moment CDProjekt decided to censor something for a witless critic they gave up on some of their artistic vision and were being disloyal to us fans in favor of something that doesn't even exist really.A ton of people bought the Witcher and let me remind you, it did NOT get stellar reviews from the mainstream press. Why did a ton of people buy the Witcher and are here on the forum awaiting the sequel? Because word of mouth about a stellar game that has a very strong and unique creative vision behind it.Give that up and you're left with a run of the mill RPG with grotesquely awful combat mechanics. Someone should put up a poll to see what people here think of the censorship decision and hope CDProjekt care more about us and themselves than a score on a magazine which is of very dubious benefit considering the scores of the first game and it's subsequent success and following

Nudity aside, I hope they preserve drinking. The fact that in people in-game had realistic attitudes to drinking I think was great. It made everyone feel much more real.
