The only reason they would cave is to be as friendly as possible to get the most sales as they can. They obviously don't care about having sex in it since they include it, they don't care about having torture in it since they include that.If they do censor, it's to keep the game as accessible as they can to the largest audience. It's a shame that they might be coerced into doing so, but that's how it is.

I remember when I was underage, one of the things that drew me to certain games was their "mature" rating. The violence, the vulgar language, the sex.....aah. Good times. Now lost.

They certainly haven't lost the vulgar language - in fact in most games it is vastly overused to the point where it is farcical. Played BF:BC2, COD etc lately - the amount of swearing is beyond the joke. They make these great mature games, but part of it is aimed at 13 year old boys who still think it is cool to swear.

Will the devs PLEASE answer the question of whether the game will have censored or uncensored versions depending on region (particularly for the United States? Also, if there IS going to be a censored version for the US then will an uncensored patch be released? I need to know NOW so I can decide whether or not to preorder the game.

They don't know yet. Negotiations in progress. Why not pre-ordering it in, let's say, March? It's still 6 months till premiere. There will be enough boxes for everybody ;)If you've got any other questions, check out the FAQ first.http://tw2.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=28407

The only problem with that is that this is the only time that I will have spare cash. I have several things I am saving up money for (tuition, car, etc) and with Christmas coming around I will have some extra money to use however I want. That money isn't going to last forever though, and I need to decide now whether I should spent it on Witcher 2, a different game like Dragon Age 2, or something a bit more practical.

@DudalizerI'd say you have a serious problem. That un-spent cash is causing you to worry too much. Not good for your health...at all. Here's a solution. Give it all to me for my professional opinion on how to best utilize your money next time you save some.

Guys, we really don't know about censorship yet. Seriously, we find out these things once we send a finished game to, for example, ESRB. That has to wait. Sory. :(

That makes sense, I had always thought that it was done during the final stage of development with input from the publisher before it was sent off, but waiting for the ESRB, or whatever the equivalent for your market is, to see what they do with it definitely makes a lot more sense.

I'll definitely be buying TW2...but I also do not wish to end up with a censored US version. I imported a UK copy of TW1 for that reason. So, I'm holding off pre-ordering until we get official word on that subject. Since it's the same publisher (Atari) is the US, I'm a bit pessimistic that they'll do it differently though. Buncha prudes. But am excited about the game. :)

To avoid the censored version of TW1 i also had to buy an imported version from gogamer.com and if it was necessary i would do the same today. I donot agree with any censorship of any content myself. I want the fantasy type of game play but as an adult i long ago left the Super Mario Brothers mentality behind and preffer games that are darker in both story and presentation. Take for example the torture scene that seems to have everyone's panties in a twist, if you want to cause the player to feel for the woman then you should show the hepllessness and humiliation undergoing such torture would have entailed. If you want to make the player feel for the lady then covering her up, avoiding any of the de-humanizing tortures she would have under gone, or skipping any thing related to this would be contrary to the intent. The Witcher was one of my favorite games because it did not shy away from human frailties instead the running theme i found was that human vice is the cause of all monsters. In a game/story based upon this premise it is cowardly to shy away from telling the story in all its dirty, caustic, crass, sexual undertones used to convey the corruption of the human condition. With out the underpinniings of the vice the story lacks emotional punch, and since this is more of a visual experience it will be necessary to show the vice and the consequences of that vice in all of its gory detail. In order to do this sufficiently drowners, dryads, bruxa, vampires, and yes even normal humans will need to be shown stripped of all pretense and clothing as well. These creatures are not subject to human morality and since most monsters are created from human vice it is necessary that humans are also presented in the same context.

I Played through the original version then sometime later the "Enhanced" version came out..............again censored. I installed it and strted to play it again, but being a moderator on another board, I got busy and it was forgotten. It was sometime later, while doing a search I found that there had been patch released that restored it to the original uncensored version. I ended up playing through it again. The first was published by Atari, in the states at least. I don't think that there will be a lot of preorders in the states because of this, unless it is determined whethe or not it will be censored.

1) I wonder what's wrong with Americans. They ban things like breasts on TV, but most of the worlds porn comes from there. People like the Porn Clown Posse can do their thing openly on the streets. Contradictory, no?2) Sex is a normal human thing. Back in the medieval times (and later on) was nudity normal, people wore "clothes" as they could afford it, and most could not. Furthermore: think about paintings from Masters like Rubens, Jordaens, ...: most are with nudity.3) Nothing is as gorgeous (not from an erotic point of view, but from artistic point of view) as a female body. Hell: there should be a law that forbids women to wear clothes: it's a grave crime hiding the beauty with clothes. Just not during winter, of course...What I am getting at: To America: either allow "sex" (nudity, ...) or COMPLETELY ban it. You cannot have it 2 ways. That's just hypocritical, and not to mention: SILLY. We Europeans laugh with this.Furthermore: the "erotic part" of this magnificent game is from artistic point of view tolerable. It is not gross, and the so called "collectible sex cards" are well painted, and yes, they do show a breast every so often, but not in a vulgar way.To end: if you really think that the content is pornographic, I suggest that you play the game then, and see for yourself. Crap, most teens got worse books and movies at home. Or will you go hunt these down as well? *grins*PS: This post is not mentioned to insult anyone, I am merely making a statement here. If I insulted anyone I apologize...

I think that being and American or an European or whatever has noting to do with it. I am European and I didn't like the sex cards because of the Pokemon feeling to it.I finish this post with a parody song from a good friend of mine:"I wanna be the macho manlike no one ever wasundress them is my real testto screw them is my caaaaaause.I will travel across Temeriasearching far and widefor all the ***** to understandthe prize that is InsiiiiideGE-RA-LT! HAS TO CATCH THEM ALLIt's them and heeeeeeeHe knows it's his destinyyyyyyyyGE-RA-LT!OOOOOOOOHHH He's their best friendIn the world he must defeeeeeeeeendGE-RA-LT! HAS TO CATCH THEM ALLTHOSE CARDS SO TRUUUUUUUETESTOSTERONE WILL PULL TRUEYOU SCREW HIM AND HE SCREWS YOUGEEEEE-RAAAAAAAL-TTTTTTTTTTTGONNA SCREW THEM ALLYEAH!"And I take my leave.

I think you missed the point, my friend. What I tried to say was, that the pictures of the women are nice, not vulgar. I did NOT try to say they are a must-be-in-the-game-or-the-game-sucks. I too think the game can be without them, but well, they are in. That's ok. What I on the other side hate, is the fact that "Prudish though Pornographic America" for instance covered the breasts of Morenn, which was simply crazy. I mean, she's a frikken Dryad, a creature of nature. That's like putting a cow into a bikini! Why censor games, if they have the biggest uncensored porn industry?Just does not make sense....

Now that would almost be worth paying to see in the game, just imagine it, some crazy in-game prude running around trying to get cows to cover up by slapping bikini tops on their udders! It should be noted though, that the cards and nudity weren't so much banned in North America as much as Atari just didn't want to take any heat over the game especially from an, at the time, unknown studio. Seeing how well the first one did and that the controversy didn't hurt sales one bit Atari may be more willing to force the issue the in North America if anyone complains about the content.

As far as I'm aware Atari isn't handling the NA publishing?
