Yes, but I'ld rather get a confirmation instead of an "as far as I know". It'ld also be good to know how far the censorship goes. I can handle a game where I can't see nipples, god knows I have the internet to supply me with that, but if they are removing dialogue, cutscenes, etc. I'll try an import.

Isn't the entire developement of overprotecting children and countless restrictions the result that parents refuse to take the responsibilitiy to raise their children? When I have a kid who smokes in bed I talk to him/her why I don't want them smoking in bed instead of buying a fireproof pajama.I think parents pretend to take care for their children when they fence them, support laws against "violence and nudity" in games, movies, etc. because they are too busy to spend time with their kids... learning by doing and experience instead of restrictions and overprotection.

Exactly, unfortunately in some states not sure if it is in all or what, but the government is actually stopping this process of raising your own kids. Laws have been passed that make it illegal to discipline your kids physically at all period. No spanking, no ... well it still happens of course but the fear of going to jail if your kid decides to tell on you... A lot of baby boomer parents I know tend to over protect their kids yet at same time rely on other to raise them morally instead of doing this themselves. I was spanked a lot when I was a kid :) and learned appropriately, now kids get to the revolt against parents even sooner than in my time since government got involved in the home.

Yeah, that was in reply to one of my questions. Though after a bit of research, I'm not too sure how true this is. ESRB is a North American body, not just the USA. So we share the same games. Perhaps they were referring to some sort of Canadian Atari branch that publishes the games for Canada, but they aren't actually different in terms of game content. *shrug*

I said the same thing. I'm fairly confident that nipples are the only thing removed (as in they are covered up with hair... like in that game footage of that dryad or whatever it was). And those collectable cards may be removed.I don't understand why we have to speculate on this so much though. Can't one of the devs just tell us?

My thoughts exactly. For every mention that it's just some minor nudity being covered up, I seem to read another preview or post that suggests they needed to rework or remove entire sidequests and vague talk from the developers that the UK version is the "real" one. I don't want to waste time ordering from Europe if I'm not missing any real meat of the game, but I also don't want to buy a gimped version.Mind you, with how high retail game prices continue to be here in Canada, and how strong our dollar is, it might actually be cheaper for me to buy the UK version anyways. Still, the ESRB ratings are in, so the devs must by this point know what was removed.

The UK version would be completely in English (text, voices, menus, the works). You will be able to buy it from whatever online stores will ship to the US. Alternately, you could get a UK friend/relative to send you a copy.As for the wolf amulet, that is included in the Polish Collector's Edition. As far as I know the US/UK Collector's Editions aren't confirmed to exist yet, but it's likely they would contain the amulet if nothing else. If it does exist, the UK CE will also be readily available from online stores.

That is a SWEET collectors edition, I really hope the UK collectors edition is as sweet as the polish one. on game.co.uk they changed the pic of the box to say collectors edition. unfortunatley their description of whats in the collectors edition is really vague. really hope the UK version has all that stuff the polish collectors does.

First my questions.1. I know it has already been asked but I'm asking for myself, can any of the Devs please answer once and for all (I'm talking to Funky Monk ;))if there is ANY content other then the nipples going to be covered, censored in the U.S. version and if so what EXACTLY?2. Is there going to be any official downloadable patch either from CD Projekt or Atari that restores or unlocks censored content in the US version and when? FYI I would accept a requirement to verify age by say using an active internet connection and the cd protection software only gathers enough info to verify that the action between my PC and yours or their server is legit to register my legit copy.3. Does anyone know if the UK or US Collectors Edition has the wolf medallion the trading cards and the bestiary in addition to the contents of the LE like the Polish CE?So as to this and all the posts after,George Carlin, stand-up Philosopher, on "children":"Something else I'm getting tired of in this country is all this stupid talkI have to listen to about children. That's all you hear about anymore, children: "Help the children, save the children, protect the children." Youknow what I say? F*ck the children! They're getting entirely too much attention. And I know what some of you arethinking: " Jesus, he's not going to attack children, is he?" Yes he is!He's going to attack children. And remember, this is Mr. Conductor talking;I know what I'm talking about. And I also know that all you boring single dads and working moms, who thinkyou're such f*cking heros, aren't gonna like this, but somebody's gotta tellyou for your own good: your children are overrated and overvalued, andyou've turned them into little cult objects. You have a child fetish, andit's not healthy. And don't give me all that weak sh*t, "Well, I love mychildren. "F*ck you! Everybody loves their children; it doesn't make youspecial. : : : John Wayne Gacy loved his children. Yes, he did. But, that's notwhat I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is this constant, mindlessyammering in the media, this neurotic fixation that suggests that somehoweverything--everything--has to revolve around the lives of children. It'scompletely out of balance.Listen, there are a couple of things about kids you have to remember. Firstof all, they're not all cute. In fact, if you look at 'em real close, mostof them are rather unpleasant looking. And a lot of them don't smell toogood either. The little ones in particular seem to have a kind of urine andsour-milk combination that I don't care for at all. Stay with me on thisfolks, the sooner you face it the better off you're going to be.Second, premise: not all chidren are smart and clever. Got that? Kids arelike any other group of people: a few winners, a whole lot of losers! Thiscountry is filled with loser kids who simply...aren't...going...anywhere! Andthere's nothing you can do about it, folks. Nothing! You can't save themall. You can't do it. You gotta let 'em go; you gotta cut 'em loose; yougotta stop over-protecting them, because your making 'em too soft.Today's kids are way too soft. : : : For one thing, there's too muchemphasis on safety and safety equipment: childproof medicine bottles, fireproof pajamas, child restraints, car seats. And helmets! Bicycle, baseball, skateboard, scooter helmets. Kids have to wear helmets now foreverything but jerking off. Grown-ups have taken all the fun out of being akid. : : : What's happened is, these baby boomers, these soft, fruity babyboomers, have raised an entire generation of soft, fruity kids who aren'teven allowed hazardous toys, for Chrissakes! What ever happened to naturalselection? Survival of the fittest? The kid who swallows too many marblesdoesn't grow up to have kids of his own. Simple stuff. Nature knows best!" Grin Grin GrinFrom Dr.StrangeI have only one thing to say about this.IF in the US Society CARES so much about children. Then why haven't there been rioting in the street when our illustrious Pres. vetoed the S-Chip program?!?!For those international members who don't know what I'm talking about this is what I'm talking about.SCHIP or State Children's Health Insurance Program is a program to cover poor and struggling middle class children with health insurance, there are 10 million children without health insurance estimated in this country. The new bill that was vetoed was planed to not only continue the coverage of the 6.5 million on it whose funding is running out (the war) but also expand coverage to another 4.5 million of that estimated 10mil(FYI THAT IS PROBABLY AN UNDERESTAMITE ) and how is this going to be paid for by adding a $0.60 tax increase on cigarettes (CANCER STICKS) NOT INCOME TAXES. So people would not be paying for this with their taxes(income taxes). With $30 Billion over the next five years. I'm simplifying things a bit and could be off by a million give or take on some of the numbers. And why did our great pres veto this because in his words "Poor Kids first" WTF!!!! I'm not making that up He said that at a public forum you can likely find it on youtube. And while I agree with Carlin that kids are being coddled to a ridiculous degree in this country health care is a very black and white issue. You know that Whole right to LIFE,LIBERTY,AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS thing.I don't know about you but not being able to pay the hospital to treat say cancer and the kid dies from that is where the line is crossed to say the least. And to not have rioting or a 10 Million Mom March on D.C. in response is where I go yeah I guess the rest of the world is right when they say Americans are hypercritical pigs. But we sure are protecting kids from "dangerous" sex and violence in video games.Score one for the Gipper!! ::)

Didn't one of the devs already post that no quests were removed? Assets were changed for 2 monsters and 1 NPC. I know that isn't going to do anyone much good without a link, but I did read a dev post somewhere stating that.
2. Is there going to be any official downloadable patch either from CD Projekt or Atari that restores or unlocks censored content in the US version and when? I'd be surprised if age verification would be a sufficient workaround. In the US, someone else decides what is in our best interests to see and since parents aren't forced to be responsible for their kids, we are stuck with this type of "protection".
3. Does anyone know if the UK or US Collectors Edition has the wolf medallion the trading cards and the bestiary in addition to the contents of the LE like the Polish CE?

There is no US CE and the UK CE does not contain the wolf medallion, cards, or bestiary (although the included art book is different than the Polish books and I suppose it's possible that some or all of the content of the two separate books is included in the one book in the UK CE). The contents of the European CE have been confirmed and there are screenshots of the back of the box where the contents are listed floating around. There's a making of DVD, a soundtrack CD, and an artbook.

Page 25 of the "ask the devs thread" a RED post says that its only art for 2 monsters and an NPC. I suppose we might be able to get something much more official than that, but for now that's as good as it gets. For better or worse, I've already ordered my import copy. I stand by the principle all the same.http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=1059.360

Sorry to bump the topic but when I realised this was gold the other day I was talking about it with a couple of my friends from across the pond, they got back to me slightly concerned that they were getting the censored version and asked if I could just order and send them UK copies.I don’t mind doing that but decided to look over the board for details and after reading some of the posts have to ask, I realise that its been mentions that a couple of monsters and one npc have been altered but is there any chance we could get a touch more detail as to what’s been changed and in what context.I know it was said earlier that someone would post more info when they knew precisely what was being changed but with the game gold now surely that means you now know what has been changed?

In the "Ask the Devs" thread, besides strategically placed clothing on the NPC and two monsters, the "sex cards" are also edited to add covering for the nudity. As far as we can tell, there hasn't been anything removed from the game.

Ah, cheers. That’s really not so bad; I will ask them if they still want the UK version, the only place I could find that was offering the CE was game.co.uk so it looks like they will be making a small fortune. ;D

Just be aware that the devs may have "forgotten" to mention something that has been censored.

I know I can get it from gameplay.co.uk but have never done this before. Are they the only ones? How long does it take to get to the US once I order? I would like the CE that they offer. Was going to buy it here http://www.gogamer.com/The-Witcher--I--PC-Games_stcVVproductId23661470VVcatId444758VVviewprod.htm but it looks like they do not offer the CE.Many Thanks!

from what i heard that site you linked wont have many copy's of the witcher, leaving you with a long wait until they do have them in stock. ATARI US sells the witcher on there official site but do not sell the uncensored version.. why is that? i too am looking to purchase the full witcher *uncensored* and can't seem to find a well known *cheap* shipping.. if anyone can help with my questions it would be appreciated greatly. also gogamers availability date for the witcher is Oct 31st.. so your going to get it the 1st week of november.

Did you E-Mail Gogamer and ask them if they plan to sell the Euro CE? You really never know sometimes, with them. They've been known, in the past, to carry Imports -- and sometimes even Special Edition Imports, too. They did w/ STALKER, where they had the STALKER: Tin Box Collector's Ed there for sale.
