Changing the effects of signs, and adding effects as well.

I'd like to know how to add and change effects of my signs, for example adding the ability to break items like Aard to Igni, and adding a shockwave effect to Quen. I'd also like to know how to make Aard and Igni have Area of Effect damage, right now, they only hit the intended target, and do nothing to anything else, I'd like to make them hit all targets in an area. I've tried changing the radius on them, but it doesn't seem to work.

You can get area effect on Aard and Igni by spending talents already. If you are editing the XML to get area effect, I believe you have to set the effect radius to 6.

I looked through the xmls and changed the radius on them, but it didn't work, they only hit what I aim at. And I don't know if it's a bug, or by design, but I can't gain any skills in Dark Mode.

Do you mean that you cannot distribute talent points? If so, keep in mind that on Hard, Dark, and Insane, you must first sit down to meditate, and access the character screen from there, before you can do that.
