Character Appearances

Before we get into topic, let me celebrate the fact the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to be released on 24th February.... WHICH IS MY FUCKING BIRTHDAY!!! :'D

I now believe in destiny :') UPDATE: FUCK DESTINY! The game will no longer be released on my birthday.

Anyways, this thread is to discuss the appearances of characters in the new trailer. Did you like or dislike the changes in appearances?? Do you think that Geralt's hair is getting darker and darker when it's supposed to be white as milk?? How did you like the girls?? Do you find similarity with what the books describe??

Geralt: His face keeps changing and his hair keeps getting darker and this is just annoying he should be like he looked in the Witcher 1 just with high graphics and very little changes. He should be a WHITE Wolf. Hair white as milk, gold-ish cat eyes. Though I prefer the non-hollywood look in W1, Geralt is looking good now in W3.
Ciri: Could have been done better. Doesn't reflect her personality, but maybe she changed during those years?
Yennefer: THE WORST. No raven eyes or black hair. No shockingly beautiful Yennefer that gives a bold and sexy aura. It seems that her powerful and confident personality was given to Triss in W3.
Triss: Good. But in the W2 she perfectly reflected the Triss I know from the books. In W3 she looks powerful and confident, which she isn't really.
The Witchers: All great. Thought I don't like the fact that some are wearing heavy plating on the shoulders I don't think witchers need that much protection.
Dandelion: He looked better in W2. His new face doesn't show the careless fun Dandelion we know.
Zoltan: Too serious. In the W2 he was perfect. And where the hell is his legendary chest hair?

The best advice I can give you is: Stick to the lore... it is what inspired all of this.

Good luck CDPR! We trust you ;)

Ciri

Dandelion

Emhyr

Geralt

Lambert

Triss, Geralt, Yennefer

Black curly hair :(

Triss

They look pretty awesome imo, but if I were to nitpick I would say this
Geralt: He looks a tiny little bit too angry imo, and also his walk seems just a bit too swaggy

Triss: To me she had her features a bit exaggerated (couldn't find a better word to describe it), kind of like she did in the early W2 trailers, I would go for more subtle features, and the only thing that actually bugs me in all character's appearance is her hair, to me its too orange and seems a bit unnatural, it should be darker and closer to auburn, like this:
http://www.remyhumanhairlacewigs.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/soft-hair.jpg

Yen: We haven't seen much of her but I think she looks good, her hair could be a bit darker and her features a bit more aggressive, Tanya Anor's version to me would be perfect!

Ciri: We've seen even less of her but since I'm nitpicking, her hair could have a slightly yellower tone and her features a bit more girll-ike, kinda like Sairose Ronan (to me she is the perfect Ciri)

Dandelion: I would prefer a renovated version of his W2 model but I'm ok with the new one as well

Emhyr: Really liked him, but again since I'm nitpicking, I would make him a bit more like Charles Dance

So thats my 2 cents, again I think they all look fantastic, but if changes were to be made these would be my suggestions

Well, thank you for this thread. It's just for me because in previous one people got bored with discussing looks.
How a hero looks means basically everything. Looks can sell, there is no denying this simple fact of life.
First of all, all characters are fully described in books. The devs must not change that - it is a canon. We already had in game our main hero, Geralt, his friends, Dandellion and Zoltan, one of his women, Triss and other characters from books. And now what I have to say about everyone.

Geralt.
I love Geralt's look in W1.
In W2 we had different engine, but still the devs changed Geralt. he became more handsome - and I didn't like it. He is not a prince charming or playboy, he is not ugly, that is aalso true. His looks in W2 were almost good for me, I got used to new Geralt in the end. Now with this new trailer.. I cannot say I'm dissapointed but I don't understand - why they always have this pressing need to change how our main hero looks? Why we get new Geralt again? He doesn't look bad but different. I cannot pinpoint what exactly bugs me, let's see in-game footage and look closer, but still...
About his hair. Is it really that much of a challenge to give a hero white hair? This is his most distinguishing feature along with his non-human eyes, after all.

Triss.
With the exception of hair colour she is perfect for me.

Ciri.
Looks too old.
Her hair is not white, but ashen blood - this is her natural hair colour due to her elven heritage.
She is beautiful, yes, but something is amiss with her.

Yennefer is a total disappointing for me.
We see a boringly cute face with a-not-so-raven hair and lifeless eyes.
I hope she will be changed.

Emhyr is my favourite in this trailer.
he is the one!
100% true to his description.

Ciri looks stunning, and I don't just mean her face. Her girlish body language is an absolute triumph.

Might as well say it now, my old concern with the girls stays: they look same-ish. Ciri, Yen and Triss have very similar facial features, as if they were sisters, and look very close in age, which shouldn't be happening, at least in my opinion. But I really like their clothing, especially Yen's dress! It's very much how I imagined it to be. I miss Triss' scar, but I figure it would confuse people who are not familiar with the books at this point. Which is unfortunate because I feel it would fit the new outfit and the (supposedly darker) feel of the game. And yeah, Yen needs darker hair, it's her trademark after all. Seconding the JustAnor design sentiments, here. :]

Ciri, while gorgeous, looks like retextured TW2 Triss, and older than I thought she would be. I'm not sure what they are doing with her age, it's confusing.

Emhyr looks fantastic and the 'old' witcher gang was easily recognisable without even having to read the hidden message. Dandelion looks different, but not too bad, I mostly felt bad for him for getting kicked around like that. Poor guy.

Geralt reminds me of Keanu Reeves for some reason, though I think I'd need to see him shaved to properly judge the model.

Hm, maybe it is intended? Ciri was always like a sister for Triss.

What do you mean with the confusing age? Afaik she is supposed to be around 20 by now.

Perhaps it indeed is intended, in that case there's not much else to say. Her clothing and hairstyle remind me of TW2 Triss design. As for her age, I expected her to have more of a younger/innocent look. It is very hard to judge these things based on a couple of seconds in a trailer, her voice actress and attitude will certainly help flesh out the character. So just throwing those first impressions out there. :D

Thank you.
This is exactly what was nagging me and I couldn't find words to express my feelings.

You're welcome. This has bothered me a bit since TW2 - I mean, the designs are very nice, but when you put them against the facial designs of the men it just sort of lacks in diversity. Which boggles my mind and I get frustrated because I loooove the Witcher men and then the women are very... same-ish - obviously not complete clones, but the same 'type' of pretty. It's very difficult to pin-point because it's fairly subtle. :/

I totally agree, Dona~

Of course there are some details here and there that could be improved,
but overall I'm happy that we got to see Ciri make an appearance.

One thing I would want CDPR to fix though is giving Yennefer black curly hair.

But I guess they still have time to improve some character models,
so maybe getting some public feedback wasn't such a bad idea after all...

Yeah thats true they do look very alike, at least for Triss and Ciri imo, I think Yen looks respectful, unique and not exaggerated, just a few tweaks would be enough imo.

To me this is the perfect geralt model it seems a bit more subtle somehow, I cant explain it properly but triss and geralt seem a bit too exaggerated.

I agree about Yen, a few tweaks and she'd look good. I get that she's difficult to design because her character feels very overwhelming at times and each person is going to imagine her differently. She'd definitely benefit from a bolder look.

Poor Geralt, he looks different with every incarnation, I've lost the track by this point. At least we didn't get a Greek God Geralt this time, eh? D: I think he'll be fine once we're given the hair/beard options.

Well, considering her background story, she isn't that innocent anymore ^^

Also her scar is on the other cheek, that will probably surprise many.

About Yen, i already said it in the other thread, that she needs black hair and more fiery, passionate facial aspects.

Even though it's probably quite harsh for the designer of her model/face to say that another version looks better, but i can't help it. That picture by @JustAnor25 has been burned into my mind and i can't forget it.
