A tons of options, and a huge selection of hats. I want my Fedora and work as a Detective (though a bit more Bad Cop).

All I can hope for is that if we get augments, then they'll show. If I replace my eyeball, I want the thing to glow in the dark or potentially have chunks of metal sticking out of it. 'Cause so far I've yet to see a game that gives me that option, visually.

I believe that will be one of the basics of the game, that once you replace a part of your body, like the eye that you mentioned, it would be visible on your character. What would be even better is the NPCs reaction to your progressing replacement of the body.

CDPR already implemented NPCs reacting to the player character in their previous games, so I bet they will go with that in CP2077 too.

I don't recall them commenting much on Geralt's gear though. What they reacted to were his choices/actions in the game. But still, I see your point.

I agree that it wasn't his gear but still, NPCs in Flotsam for example were definitely noticing Geralt and commenting on him in a lively way.

"Why does a Witcher carry 2 swords?" :)

So the system is there, they just need to expand it the way you described.

The bit about swords was more commenting on the whole philosophy of Witchers, I think (at least in Geralt's case). Some could say that the silver one was used for monsters, but the truth is both were for monsters, albeit of different shapes and sizes.

That aside, I had a chance earlier today to tinker with the EVE Online character creator and I must say as far as sculpting the body and face, it's one of the best, if not the best, character creators I've ever used. And if we get the modkit for Cyberpunk 2077 on release date for it, I imagine people will keep adding tweaks of their own to it, so in a way it will surpass its contemporaries as far as character customization is concerned. The thing which might be quirky to work out is how much should be customizable. Aside from the cybernetics and face/body appearance I mean. But that's a topic for another thread perhaps (the Fashion one).

I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the "create a character from the ground up" aspect. How in-depth this feature will be is intriguing. Always loved to customize my characters whenever possible.

Great thread and I echo a lot of what has already been said, and would love to see something on par w/ EVE online or APB in a SP RPG. While I've never had the pleasure of playing Cyberpunk 2020, I did play a lot of PnP games and character customization was a large part of the experience.

Character creation mechanism should relate to a player card creation in the PnP system where you declare in details your background but some automatic calculation adjustments could be made.
For example if you would like to start as a 25 years old man you have to declare your past:
1. First where were you born and native class or gained class.
2. Class Details: For the class so If you were born as a nomad (native class) you would likely not finished your higher degree so no chance for any corp position (except from weapon testing or other experiment subject ect.).
But the education has to be considered if you became a nomad e.g. as expelled from the society netrunner? (gained class)
If you are a solo, a former soldier or a cop, certainly no chances for netrunning skills ect.
3. Each time you have to declare
your family status, education, major event in your life and former career, skills and abilities.
4.A great deal of balancing and cross class paths possibilities has to be put over here by game creators not to finish with hordes of solos running across the nightcity.

As you said, a good writer is required over here to declare all the contraints and create at least a pool of possible events but also a designer to create the statistic:
It would be even greater to create a special emulator over here that would calculate your basic stats from your life backgroud. E.G. if you spent 15 years on a desert as a nomad certainly your strenght and agility is superior to every corp office clerk so e.g. 0.25 to strenght and agility for every year spent as a a nomad during the last 10 years ect. Living as a boostergand member is maybe equally exciting but booze, drugs and hookers certainly do not influence your physical perfomance in a positive way. But certainly you will know how to cope with baseball bat, knife or even razor blades and firearms. So 0.15 to strenght and agility and -0.15 to intelligence for every year spent as a boostergang memeber during the last 10 years or so. Wha do you think?

Would be nice if Customization was tied in with your personal grooming and wardrobe/style stats giving peeps a valid reason for putting Improvement points into it. Low skills there fewer/rougher choices to choose from Higher skills there smoother . cooler , fancier choices available

Base customization should include gender/ racial / basic facial/hair / body modifiers that can get better as your skill improves

It would be cool if you can customize the customizables as well.

Say, customizing a hair style?

I really, really hope that the toolkit comes out at the same time as the game itself. This game will be screaming out to modders.

Yep. Modders will just die to get that toolkit.

Then again, I wish modification isn't necessary, but only if you wanted to get the craziest haircuts or outfits possible. Not everyone is a modder.

Well, with an active modding community, you get to use everyone else's mods, you don't have to be one yourself.

Not being able to access and use the mods is the only downside to playing on a console... its really a bummer...

I would like to see better character customization then was in Saints Row 3, I mean they did get it pretty good but they didn't have enough options for larger breasts and good looking butts at the same time for the female characters. you should allow the large breasted porn star look. DD+ and everything in between :) Also make sure you have very good looking faces for both sexy and cute females. As for the male characters I don't play them very often because I don't like to stare at a male most of the game time.

You must really SUCK at playing games then, if you're spending most of your time ogling your female player-character's butt instead of looking at the stuff around her.

I play games for the game I just want the females to look nice. I play all types of games Far Cry 3, The Darkness 2, Saints Row 3, GTA 4 etc played all of them. still playing farcry 3. And honestly who would rather a males butt in their face the whole time they play over a female, that would be a girl and girls don't play games as much as guys..

Vexslasher, how about you hop off to Skyrim and its modding community?

Also, why are you staring at guy's asses all the time?
